⚡️ State of the Energy Union 2024: Key Findings and Future Directions 🔍 The State of the Energy Union published by the European Commission yesterday shows that, in 2022, the EU saw a notable decrease in primary energy consumption, falling by 4.1%, signalling a positive trend towards our climate goals. However, to meet the ambitious target of an 11.7% reduction in final energy consumption by 2030, the EU must ramp up its energy efficiency efforts. The report rightly underscores the urgent need to prioritise energy efficiency as a cornerstone of EU policy. In the coming years, it will be crucial to continue advancing the implementation of the Fit for 55 package and to address the forthcoming challenges for the Energy Union, notably in the Clean Industrial Act. Despite these priorities, recent discussions and reports have not sufficiently highlighted the role of energy efficiency, which will be a pivotal element in reaching EU climate goals and in enhancing EU competitiveness and energy security. Focusing on energy efficiency is and will be essential for paving the way towards a sustainable and secure energy future. 🌟 Last Tuesday, the revised Industrial Emissions Directive #IED 🏭was published in the EU Official Journal, following its formal adoption by the Council on 12th April. ⌛ It’s the kick off for the 22 months transposition period for Member States to translate its provisions into national law, with an entry into force on 1st January 2028 🍃 The revised IED strengthens the control of emissions from over 50 000 industrial installations subjects to its permitting rules, while promoting #energyefficiency and #circulareconomy. The “integrated approach” for emissions limit values is maintained, while a new concept is introduced for indicative environment performance levels for energy, water, waste and other resources. Installation-level transformation plans have to be designed by 2030, to prepare for industrial transformations needed in the period 2030-2050 to reach decarbonisation and circularity goals. 🔎 The revised IED 👉 https://lnkd.in/eXPPArWZ

🎇 Discover our Vision for 2024-2029 🎇 🎯 By 2030, the EU should reduce its energy consumption by 17%. Respectively, buildings and the industry sector account for 40% and 26% of the final energy consumption in the EU. 📉 Effective decarbonisation of European #buildings and #industry requires long-lasting solutions like Energy Performance Contracts #EnPCs, which guarantee a level of actual energy performance over time. More than a financing tool, energy management solutions such as Energy Performance Contracting should be regarded as the preferred option to accompany buildings’ renovations and industrial decarbonisation projects. 📜 Read our full Vision for 2024-2029 here 👉 https://lnkd.in/diy56tkE ARPEE România ASSOESCo Associazione delle Energy Service Company FEDENE Febetec V.Z.W./A.S.B.L

🎇 Discover our Vision for 2024-2029 🎇 📊 In 2021, over 67% of EU’s heat came from non-renewables. It's urgent to prioritise actions for decarbonising #heating & #cooling, in order to meet our climate goals. ♨ ❄ European regulations already recognise the benefits of a district approach but the local dimension of heating and cooling has to be better taken into account in future EU and national strategies. To make the green transition happen, all the thermal solutions have a role to play as there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Let's prioritise district approach, empower ESCOs, and maximise the use of Efficient #DistrictHeating & Cooling systems! 📜 Read our full Vision for 2024-2029 here 👉 https://lnkd.in/gQy6ihDp
