The #SCEWC2024 has just wrapped up and during these three days, our team joined forces with thought leaders, visionaries, and industry experts to reinforce that mobility sits at the heart of urban transformation! #TalkingITS The increasing scope of topics like data spaces, interoperability, and standardisation, combined with the mobility sector's role as a leading contributor to urban greenhouse emissions, underscores the urgent need for public-private collaboration at every level—local, regional, and national. Only through this collaboration can we ‘Connect the Dots’ and achieve meaningful impact.🌎 Closing yesterday CEO Joost VANTOMME, alongside Tamara Djukic, PhD (ERTICO Urban Mobility Lead), Roelof Hellemans (MaaS Alliance Secretary General), Julio García Ramón (ITS Catalunya) and Diego Gomez (Ayuntamiento de Sevilla.) led a dynamic discussion on the power of public-private partnerships. But how do we turn discussions into action? 💡 Some solutions highlighted included helping citizens understand #CCAM and #MaaS and their benefits, optimising public infrastructure, encouraging informed mobility choices, and ensuring true accessibility. The group emphasised co-designing and co-creating solutions by involving a broad range of stakeholders and fostering engagement activities. At ERTICO - ITS Europe, we are advancing these ambitions through EU-funded initiatives like the #metaCAZZE project, our innovation platforms, and initiatives like #ERTICOAcademy and #CityMoonshot. Our goal is clear: to move beyond research and drive sustainable solutions into real-world deployment. We also had the pleasure of contributing to the CIVITAS Initiatives' New Mobility Services (NMS) Community workshop, presenting two leading projects in the field, SUM Project and metaCCAZE Project and discussing how user attitudes and engagement shape mobility solutions in cities and Living Labs. 💡 Our colleague, Dr Tamara Djukic, PhD, Head of Green & Urban Mobility joined the panel on ‘Data-Driven Decisions: Paving the Way for Sustainable Smart Cities’ to discuss how data-driven approaches improve efficiency and sustainability across urban mobility sectors, joined by Georg Houben, DG ENER - Itir Coskun, SWARCO - Georgia Ayfantopoulou, Hellenic Institute of Transport - Barry Rogers, Dublin City Tourism UnitDublin City.  Another engaging panel today highlighted the collaborative pathways for future urban mobility and policy aspects, moderated by Agne Vaitekenaite, Partnership Manager at ERTICO with invited representatives from our team at ERTICO - ITS Europe, MaaS Alliance, ITS España and the City of Seville (Ayuntamiento de Sevilla.) Roelof Hellemans, Julio García Ramón, President of ITS Catalunya, and Diego Gomez. We look forward to supporting the MaaS Alliance, hosting its 10th MaaS Summit, an annual invitation-only event for its members. Last week, the deployEMDS project Consortium and Advisory Board members gathered together to reflect on the first year of the project and to discuss about the future of the european mobility data space #EMDS in their General Assembly in Stockholm. The sessions focused on aligning the strategical scope and vision of the project for the upcoming months and beyond, as well as on presentations from the project's 16 use cases representatives, who then collaborated with the technical partners to create a common road map. Representatives from the European Commission Kristóf Almásy (DG CONNECT) and Dimitrios Gkatzoflias (DG MOVE) joined the insightful conversations together with experts and project partners. ERTICO - ITS Europe CEO, Joost VANTOMME is part of the project's Advisory Board and actively joined the discussions about the different strategic perspectives surrounding mobility data sharing in Europe. This week, our colleague Lidia Buenavida Peña represented ERTICO at the eBRT2030 project 2nd General Assembly in Barcelona, hosted by the project partner Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona (TMB). The consortium gathered to celebrate project milestones and chart a course for the future of electric Bus Rapid Transit (BRT). 🚌 🔌 A highlight of the meeting was a tour of the TMB Triangle depot to witness cutting-edge bus chargers and the control centre in action. Safety took centre stage with insights from Barcelona’s fire department on the enhanced fire safety measures required for high-capacity batteries. These powerful electric buses are strategically parked in an open area to prioritise safety. 💡An impressive synergy: these TMB fleet buses run on energy sourced directly from the metro depot below. This innovative approach demonstrates the potential for energy-sharing between different modes of transportation. eBRT2030’s commitment to advancing electric BRT aligns with the EU’s vision for sustainable urban mobility. 🍃 ERTICO, too, is dedicated to driving sustainable mobility solutions that reduce pollution, improve air quality, and cater to the needs of all users.
