📢 The European Health Data Space (#EHDS) has now been officially published in the Official Journal. 🔗 Access the complete text here in all EU languages: https://lnkd.in/dU9486Ma 𝗤𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗸 𝗥𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿: Initially proposed by the European Commission in May 2022, the EHDS has undergone legislative amendments by the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament. The EHDS shall make it easier to exchange and access #HealthData at EU level and will officially enter into force on 26 March 2025. 🎯 𝗢𝗯𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗛𝗗𝗦: The establishment of the EHDS aims to: 🔹 Simplify access to health data for #patients and #MedicalStaff. 🔹 Unlock greater #research potential by allowing access to large and high quality datasets 🔹 Ensure interoperability of #HealthSystems across the EU 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗜𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗱: The first implementation phase focuses on the primary use of the EHDS. By developing interoperable data infrastructures accessible across all EU member states, the EHDS will enable patients to benefit from enhanced healthcare coverage. It mainly involves: 🔹 Healthcare systems 🔹 Medical staff 🔹 Patients #EUCOPE is actively preparing small and mid-size pharmaceutical companies on the implementation of the secondary use of the EHDS—targeting the life sciences sector— which will come into effect in 2029 subsequent years. This phase will regulate access to health data for research purposes. These recommendations are developed by ECGP in collaboration with their renowned independent experts and patient advocate Steering Group. Patient access to comprehensive genomic profiling across Europe remains limited due to various challenges.
