I am thrilled to share that I was an invited speaker at the FENS Forum 2024 – Special Interest Session and Networking Event: “Prioritizing Brain Health in Youth: Bringing Neuroscience to Society and Informing Policy.” As a board member of EUFAMI and the president of @schizofreniförbundet it was an honor to be part of this important discussion. The event underscored the urgent need for action on youth mental health. With the OECD indicating that half the population will experience mental health issues in their lifetime, and two-thirds of these manifesting before age 25, the significance of brain health in early years cannot be overstated. Key highlights included: 🧠 Insights into the critical role of neuroscience and brain development. 🩺 Discussions on the importance of early detection and intervention. 🔍 Addressing the complexity of navigating mental health services. 🏛️ Exploring policy and program needs to mitigate impacts on youth. It was enlightening to hear from experts and stakeholders, including neuroscientists, clinicians, researchers, policymakers, patients, and caregivers, all contributing to bridging the gap between research, policy, and society. As we continue to strive for better mental health outcomes, events like this are crucial in informing policy and fostering innovation in brain health. I am proud to be part of a community dedicated to improving mental health care pathways and advocating for the well-being of our youth. Thank you to the European Brain Council (EBC) and the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS) for organizing this impactful event. Let’s continue to work together to prioritize brain health and create a healthier future for the next generation. #FENSForum2024 #BrainHealth #YouthMentalHealth #Neuroscience #PolicyChange #MentalHealthAdvocacy #EUFAMI #Schizofreniförbundet #EBC #Schizophrenia
