September marks the start of a new EUNIC Mobility Scheme! 🚀 The EUNIC Mobility Scheme facilitates the exchange of knowledge and best practices among EUNIC colleagues, offering the chance to discover different approaches to common challenges and develop new ways of working. This edition will explore topics ranging from journalism and civil society to gender equality and youth engagement! Colleagues across the EUNIC network have now been matched with their host institutions and visits will soon begin. Over the next year, 70 colleagues working in #CulturalRelations will take part in the scheme, thanks to the 25 hosting offers from across Europe, North Africa and Asia. 🌍 Visits will be hosted at EUNIC members' headquarters, such as the Svenska institutet in Stockholm, or at local branches like the Goethe-Institut Bratislava. Some will also be hosted by EUNIC clusters, including the EUNIC Egypt cluster in Cairo. What is the relationship between culture and democracy? 🤝 This week, Budapest is hosting the ‘Access is Success’ conference - part of the culture programme of the Hungarian Presidency of the Council of the EU. #HU24EU This morning, Pia Ahrenkilde Hansen, Director General of #DGEAC, underlined culture as a right shared by everyone and discussed a new European Commission study exploring the link between cultural participation and democratic outcomes, raising concerns around confidence and trust in civic processes. At EUNIC, we believe that culture is central to building trust and understanding between Europe and the wider world, and strengthening democratic participation and civil society. 🌏 Explore these three examples of EUNIC projects where we see these principles in action: 🇰🇿 Kazakhstan: ‘Dybys. Female Voices Aloud’ This project aims to create a crucial space for public discourse on women’s roles in contemporary society. By amplifying unheard female voices, it explores their influence on societal and political transformations. Supported by #EuropeanSpacesofCulture 2024-25. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/djJW6PGa 🇰🇪 Kenya: Cartooning for Peace and Democracy EUNIC Kenya, with partners, led a series of educational and advocacy activities promoting peaceful, democratic elections. Through press cartoons and satire, the project encouraged dialogue on political processes, countering hate speech and misinformation. #EUNICClusterFund project 2022. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/dBaW8sSE 🇸🇰 Slovakia: Art as Evidence This project in Slovakia focused on countering misinformation, propaganda, and fake news. By creating an open space for learning, it promoted critical thinking, fact-checking and media literacy. #EUNICClusterFund project 2023. Discover more here: https://lnkd.in/dmvE-bKa

It’s always a pleasure to connect with our members face-to-face. 🇵🇹 Today, we're in Lisbon to meet with Ambassador Florbela Paraíba, the newly appointed president of Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P. As the former Portuguese ambassador to Senegal, Paraíba is no stranger to EUNIC collaboration projects, both in Western Africa and elsewhere. We discussed approaches to more forward-facing cultural relations and share a commitment to cultural cooperation that goes beyond purely government-to-government relations. We must encourage civil society-led initiatives, working closely with European colleagues and local actors through EUNIC's global network. Let’s continue exploring how we can work together to make the EU’s vision for #TeamEurope a reality. 🤝
