🤝EUROBAT thanks MEP Pierfranco Maran and his team for the hearing on the End-of-Life Vehicle Regulation earlier this week at the European Parliament. 💡As explained by Eurometaux (European Metals Association)’s Laura Fazio Bellacchio and EUROBAT’s Karsten Kurz, closing the material loop is central to the EU’s green ambition. The average lead #battery sold in the EU today contains more than 80% of recycled materials. 🔋To protect the contribution of batteries to circularity, the Batteries Regulation should be the only legislation governing the use of lead and other metals in batteries. #ELV #EUROBAT

🔋 Last week, at #EVision2025, the joint Eurelectric x EY report was published, highlighting how electric vehicles (EVs) can boost grid flexibility and save drivers money! 💡Through 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴, EV batteries can store excess electricity and with 𝘃𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗹𝗲-𝘁𝗼-𝗴𝗿𝗶𝗱 (#V2G) technologies, they can sell it back to the grid at times of peak demand, helping balance the power grid, reduce congestion and integrate variable renewables. 💡 EUROBAT thanks the head of EU-BRITE, Serge Roudier, and his colleagues Francesco Perisse and Ioannis Retsoulis at the JRC for the discussion on #gigafactories this Tuesday. 🤝 Together with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited, EUROBAT’s Maxime Castes and the JRC explored how best to set environmental benchmarks for the operation of large #battery plants under the Industrial Emissions Directive. 🔋 Batteries are critical to reducing GHGs and atmospheric pollution. But for the green transition to be a success, battery plants must operate with the highest standards for energy, water, and chemical consumption. 🎯 We look forward to further exchanges in the JRC’s technical working group on #gigafactories, to be launched in the coming weeks. #EUROBAT

🔋 Last month, EUROBAT’s EU Affairs Director, Giorgio Corbetta, took part in the roundtable discussion “Europe’s CRM Supply Chain: From Raw Materials to Steel to Automotive.” 🎯The event, organized by ECGA (European Advanced Carbon and Graphite Materials Association) in collaboration with Euractiv, sparked a timely conversation on #CriticalRawMaterials and the EU’s approach to this pressing issue. 💡 The discussion underscored the urgent need to strengthen Europe’s critical raw materials (CRM) supply chains. 💬 "The business and regulatory environment for making batteries in Europe is becoming tougher and tougher. Yet, EU battery manufacturers have the talent, ambition, and the capability to thrive in the global market," Giorgio shared. 👉 Read our Manifesto for policy recommendations to support Europe’s battery sector: https://lnkd.in/eVE5Ufmz. #EUROBAT #CriticalRawMaterials

💡 Yesterday, the European Commission published its Industrial Action Plan for the Automotive Sector, also reinforcing the crucial role of batteries in Europe’s clean mobility transition. 🎯At EUROBAT, we support the steps the Commission’s is taking towards ensuring a strong, sustainable, and globally competitive European battery industry! Let's take a look at some main provisions for #battery manufacturers: ◾ Battery Booster package: Supports the production of battery cells and components through direct funding, non-price criteria for components and loans. ◾ Raw Materials & Refining: Faster permitting, strategic projects under the Critical Raw Materials Act, and de-risking supply through partnerships. 🤝Further collaboration between policymakers, industry, and stakeholders will be essential to securing Europe’s leadership in clean mobility amid geopolitical turmoil and rising trade barriers. #EUROBAT #IndustrialActionPlan
