Key takeaways: 🔑 Without proper coordination of EU policies, the twin goals of decarbonisation and boosting competitiveness could conflict, potentially threatening growth and industrial resilience. 🔑Improving energy grid infrastructure and derisking new investments are critical to accelerate renewable energy deployment and support the sector's decarbonisation. 🔑Energy-intensive industries face immense challenges due to high energy costs, the need for massive investments in decarbonisation, and unfair market competition, fuelling deindustrialisation in Europe. 🔑State-sponsored overcapacity in multiple sectors (incl. aluminium) poses a serious threat to European industries. The EU must be more strategic about trade and implement stronger trade defense measures to counter unfair trade practices. 🔑 The next 5 years are crucial for EU manufacturing industries.
