The ECIA is the representative body for the European professional organizations in Interior Architecture and Design.
About us
The European Council of Interior Architects is the representative body for the European professional organizations in Interior Architecture and Design. Founded in 1992, ECIA currently represents 16 members-national organizations, with over 14000 professionals Interior Architects/Designers. ECIA provides a common platform for the exchange of information on best professional practice. It endorses minimal common standards of education and professional profile for the Associated Interior Architects/ Designers in the member organisation. The profession of interior architecture is enhancing the full spectrum of interior architecture, which can be as much as furniture designs as small-scale architecture. The ECIA has been established to found a European network to intensify the European network for interior architects/ designers and to constantly develop and intensify the profession. This is done by an intensive communication about the profession and sharing views and a permanent dialogue with the members, partners, and sister organisations, institutions and the European parliament itself. One of our tasks is to endorse minimal common standards of education and a professional profile for the associated interior architects/ designers of our member organisations. Furthermore we wrote the ECIA Code of Conduct; a Professional Ethics sets standards for the Associated Interior Architects/Designers on approach and responsibilities within the profession, towards clients, society an environment. We intensively worked on these themes and developed our mission: “ECIA is an European platform to represent and promote the qualified profession of interior architects/designers.” The profession has various embedding’s in the different member countries. Different by law, type of protection, professional requirements and education. We thereby want to achieve a general recognition of the profession by the public and legislative bodies at local, national and EU level.

European Council of Interior Architects ECIA reposted this
I am thrilled to announce that SAW - Stowarzyszenie Architektów Wnętrz / Association of Interior Architects, has been accepted to European Council of Interior Architects ECIA as an Effective Member. At the General Assembly of member organizations from all over Europe, which took place in Lucerne🇨🇭, between 13-15.09, I had the honor of presenting SAW (saw.org.pl) and then our candidacy was put to a vote and accepted unanimously. So now, as SAW, we are the only organization from Poland associating interior architects, which belongs to recognized international associations such as European Council of Interior Architects ECIA. This means that our goals and activities are consistent with those of ECIA and other member associations from all over Europe. Representatives of the Board of International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers were also present at the meeting. At the same meeting, Ireland's accession was also voted on! Congratulations! We would like to thank to the Board of ECIA and to 18 member organizations from varios countries. This is a great honour for us, a big step in our development, and a huge opportunity to exchange experiences with other similar associations throughout Europe. #saworgpl #ecia #interiorarchitect #interiorarchitecture #membership

Proudly presenting one of the two organisations that applied for ECIA membership!
I am very glad to share with you that we, as SAW - Stowarzyszenie Architektów Wnętrz / Association of Interior Architects (saw.org.pl), have been invited to annual General Assembly of European Council of Interior Architects ECIA taking place from 13-15 September 2024 in Lucerne, Switzerland. After a long verification process that started last year, several online meetings and visit of ECIA Board Members in Warsaw, SAW has obtained the positive recommendation to become the Effective Member of European Council of Interior Architects ECIA, proudly representing Poland, that has not been represented so far by any national organisation. The final decision will be taken during General Assembly, this weekend, by all ECIA Effective Members that will have the final voice and will vote on SAW’s admission. As part of the process we will have the opportunity to present SAW as organisation, highlighting our mission, values and presenting our activities. Four members of SAW Management Board will be present there: Pawel Sokol, Roland Stańczyk, Anna Olga Chmielewska and myself - Agnieszka Zygmunt. So, for now, cross your fingers and we will keep you informed 🙂 #saworgpl #ecia #generalassembly #effectivemember #interiorarchitect
