Want your city to be the next European Capital of Democracy 🌎 ? Each year, a city is selected to host a series of activities to celebrate and strengthen democracy across Europe and beyond. Check out European Capital Of Democracy #ECoD’s #opencall 👇
TODAY IS THE DAY! 🟢 The application process for the European Capital of Democracy 2026 is officially open. We invite all cities of at least 100,000 inhabitants, within the Council of Europe, plus Kosovo, to apply. You can only apply until the end of October 2024, so hurry up! Following the success of #Barcelona as the first European Capital of Democracy, #Vienna will assume the role in November this year, and start hosting the Democracy Year 2025. While these cities are renowned for their contributions to democracy, we believe that every city has its unique democratic projects that reflect the spirit of democracy in innovative ways. The selection process of #ECoD is simple, fair, and transparent. An Expert Jury evaluates applications based on predefined criteria and shortlists 3 outstanding cities. The Citizens’ Jury, of over 4,000 engaged Europeans, then makes the final selection for the European Capital of Democracy 2026. 🔵 For details, the application form, and the complete timeline, visit: https://lnkd.in/g2b64gqx Also, feel free to share photos of your city’s umbrella streets in the comments section (don’t be shy, we know you have one…none can resist them)
