"What we invest in defence is how we value our defence. And for the past few decades, we haven’t put a high enough price on it. We must spend more," said HR/VP Kaja Kallas when presenting the White Paper on the future of European Defence – Readiness 2030, together with the European Commission. European External Action Service reposted this
How do you actually know that you are being manipulated? We will map the complex connections and channels used by Russia and China to manipulate information. 💡Why does this matter? Foreign information manipulation and interference (FIMI) is a direct attack on trust in democratic institutions. The EU’s monitoring efforts are not just about understanding these operations—they are about strengthening democratic resilience through data-driven, coordinated responses. In an era of increasingly sophisticated disinformation operations, the European Union is stepping up its efforts to detect, analyze, and counteract these threats. The latest EEAS FIMI Threat Report provides a comprehensive map of digital infrastructure deployed by foreign actors—primarily Russia and China—to manipulate and interfere in the information space of the EU and its partners. Key findings of the report include: ✅ A network analysis of covert FIMI operations, exposing hidden connections behind campaigns such as Doppelganger, African Initiative, Portal Kombat, and False Façade. ✅ The FIMI Exposure Matrix, a new model for uncovering digital channel connections and the broader infrastructure supporting FIMI operations. ✅ Case studies on Moldova and Africa, illustrating how Russia tailors its disinformation strategies to geopolitical shifts. ✅ A focus on multi-platform adaptation, showing how FIMI actors evolve to exploit emerging digital environments.
