🎤 "It was a pleasure to be participating in the #EUSC2023 because of all the different topics that were presented" says Patrick Van Campenhout from the European Olympic Committees - EOC. The #EU sport expert presented the work plan of the European Olympic Committees EU Office - EOC EU Office for the upcoming years and delivered a great inter-active session. It was a great way to close the first day of the event, dedicated to sport sustainability and the European perspective of sport.

💡 Does Psychosocial training impact lifeguards' performance, especially in preventing drownings? "Psychosocial training programme for lifeguards: a pilot study" is the title of the communication by Paulo Santiago, Filipe Maia, Sandra Santiago, Daniel Duarte, and Pedro Teques from Politécnico da Maia - IPMAIA, at the #EUSC2023. This communication presented the results of a 3-month intervention with 64 lifeguards. The findings show significant improvement in their selective attention and emotional intelligence. 🎤 Silvija Mitevska, from the Macedonian Olympic Committee, was on stage at the #EUSC2023 to talk about gender equality in sport. For the expert, the multitude of topics and approaches was one of the event's highlights, alongside the opportunity to network and forge new partnerships 🫱🏽🫲🏿 It was great to learn about all of the projects that are already shaping #European sport, and we take this moment to thank all of the experts who have shared their knowledge and experience with us!

💡 Physical activity can have a positive impact on people with hip and knee replacement, but what are doctor's attitudes on this matter? "Orthopedic Surgeons' attitudes toward physical activity for people with total hip and knee replacement: Italy versus The Netherlands" is the title of the communication by Erika Pinelli, Raffaele Zinno, Martin Stevens, Inge van den Akker-Scheek, and Laura Bragonzoni at the #EUSC2023. "Category:Woman" sheds light on the racism and discrimination towards women in the Olympics, and #Paris2024 controversies brought those topics to the spotlight once again. 💡 Preparing Olympians for their post sport career was the proposal by Luiza Złotkowska and Marcin Doros from the Polski Komitet Olimpijski for the #EUSC2023. The communication titled "Dual Careers" presents the #ErasmusPlus OCDC project (Olympic Committees for Dual Careers) that brought together the Polski Komitet Olimpijski, the Slovenian Olympic Committee, the Hellenic Olympic Committee, the Lithuania Olympic Committee, the Turkish National Olympic Committee, and EUNIK to support NOCs and Federations empower junior and senior athletes to transition to the labour market. 💡 How active is the senior population in #Asturias and what is their epigenetic biological age? The #EDASTUR project proposed to answer these questions through a blended methodology of DNA testing, motivation and lifestyle assessment, and physical activity monitoring. "Lifestyle effects on delayed ageing" was the title of the communication presented at the #EUSC2023 by Professor Benjamín Fernández García from Universidad de Oviedo.
