📊 Independent Dutch-based scientific and technology organization TNO Innovation is moving ahead with a 1-year study on the use of higher blends of biodiesel (#FAME) across the Dutch inland shipping sector. 🔎 A widely supported study, commissioned by the Ministerie van Infrastructuur en Waterstaat (Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management), is intended to provide insight into the compositions and conditions under which biodiesel works best on inland vessels. "FAME offers significant emission gains when used on a large scale: eight times less CO2 emissions per kilogram compared to diesel", according to Jesse de Boear, Innovation Scientist specializing in Biofuels at TNO. Fuel suppliers FincoEnergies, Den Hartog and OK Slurink will be involved in the trial as they have been testing ships for higher FAME blends for some time now.
