We are delighted to welcome Marina N. as the newest addition to our sales team! Marina joined us ealier this month as Internal Sales and she brings a wealth of diversity and talent with her. Marina was born in Congo and lived there until she was nine. This background has given her impressive language skills, as she speaks no less than five languages. She also learned Dutch fluently in just eight months. Quite an achievement! This shows her perseverance and eagerness to learn. In addition, Marina is a family person. She has two sisters and a stepbrother. We are convinced that her warm personality and broad language skills will be a valuable addition to our team. Welcome, Marina!

Have you already met Seymanur S.? Seymanur joined the Exitas team earlier this year. She has a background in applied computer science and a passion for being creative and solving puzzles. 🧩 Her creativity and puzzle solving skills will come in handy as database administrator. Seymanur will control and support databases for our customers. She will monitor and optimize data environments, making sure everything is always up and running. Her goal is to make databases reliable. Seymanur was a full-stack developer before, so she is seeing a new side of IT. But databases have always intrigued her, and new challenges do not scare her. Although being a DBA is different for Seymanur, she can use her acquired soft skills and technical view from being a developer. 🔎 Since her start at Exitas, Seymanur immediately felt at home in our team. She can always count on support from our team and vice versa. She is looking forward to learning more and grow in her role as DBA. Yesterday was the last day of Oracle CloudWorld. After having thoroughly enjoyed the concert the day before, we got up early to attend our last sessions. Some of the things we learned: 📈 More than 40% of Oracle databases can migrate to ADB with only 1 or 2 adjustments. With a little bit of extra work, this number goes up to 80%! Oracle provides several tools to plan the migration (Oracle Estate Explorer) and to execute it smoothly and automatically (OCI Database Migration Service). 🔎 Vector search can be used to improve search results, algorithms for recommendation systems, sentiment analysis of texts, and more... With Oracle database23ai, we can easily implement vector searches. 💡 We learned more about OCI SQL. A future service on OCI that gives an AI agent knowledge of your database to naturally ask questions, perform analysis, generate queries, and more. With that, we concluded Oracle CloudWorld 2024. Oracle Cloud World - Day 2! We started with a walk through the smoke, since the wildfires of California have hit Las Vegas. Today we followed a lot of database related sessions. We started with an excellent demo session of Oracle Database 23ai new feautures by Connor McDonald. We will make a seperate post on that later. Robin followed a session about Datapump new features and tricks. For example, the latest bundle patch has dramatically better import speed. Real world example application’s import speed went from 2.5 hours to 48 minutes. 📈 Later he joined a session on Exascale. This combines all Exadata intelligence with all cloud benefits into a new architecture that delivers the best of Exadata and the best of cloud. Exadata performance, reliability… at a low entry cost and scalable in OCI. ☁️ There was also a keynote on OCI security by Clay Magouyrk and a session on OCI Secure Desktops. Lastly he followed a session about the Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance which has perfect ransomware protection. 🔒 Michiel followed a session on Application Continuity in Oracle 23ai and a session about the Oracle Database Roadmap for 23ai, which was followed by a hands-on lab on OCI Full Stack DR. We also joined other Oracle partners to talk about security and the ways we can help customers achieve their security challenges. He finished the day with a session on Zero Downtime Migration Oracle Database@Google/Azure/AWS. Want to know more on one of the topics above, please reach out to us! Time for an update from Oracle CloudWorld! Here are our main take-aways from Oracle Cloudworld - Day 1: ☁️ Oracle Database Exadata@AWS was announced, meaning Oracle Exadata will run in the datacenter of AWS. This is going to GA from December 2024. Both Exadata database service, Autonomous database and Exascale (new shared Exadata deployment model) are going to be available in OCI, AWS, Azure and Google. 🔐 Another exciting announcement was the "Zipper" or OCI Zero Trust Packet Routing. Using an easily understood and intent-based policy language, security administrators can define specific access pathways for data. Other network traffic is not allowed by default. It's a way to better secure access to data. Oracle also announced the ability to use Biometric data to get rid of passwords as authentication. 💡 We also followed sessions about Datasafe, Patching, GoldenGate, and OCI Landing zones.
