📢 FERMA Calls for Change in EU Public Procurement Rules for Insurance FERMA has responded to the European Commission's public consultation on revising the EU Public Procurement Directives (#PPD). Why does this matter? Risk managers in the public sector must comply with the PPD when purchasing insurance policies. However, the current rules are too rigid and complex, making it harder for public-sector companies to secure sufficient coverage and often forcing them to pay higher premiums than their private-sector counterparts. ⚠️ This is a major concern. In an era of growing risks, public-sector resilience is more critical than ever. 💡 FERMA’s position: ✅ Exclude insurance from the PPD’s scope, as already done for other financial services. ✅ If exclusion is not possible, introduce greater flexibility in the tendering process. Ferma has welcomed changes to European sustainability rules put forward by the EC that look set to slash the scope of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) to only the largest firms, while delaying full application of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting CSRD and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) to 2028.
