Fragile X International is a network of Fragile X family organizations from around the world. Corporations and other organizations are welcome to join us as Associate Members. We recognize that all people with Fragile X are of equal value and entitled to the same opportunities as everyone else. Our vision is to help those living with Fragile X Syndrome (FXS), Fragile X Premutation Associated Conditions (FXPAC) and their families anywhere in the world enjoy a happy life. Fragile X International aims to increase knowledge about the strengths of people with FXS; highlight the areas where they may need support; raise awareness and encourage research around FXS and FXPAC; and share knowledge in the hope that one day Fragile X will be recognized for the benefit it brings to society.

In 2022 FraXI representatives called for a more inclusive terminology that could fight stigmatisation, discrimination and misleading. An amazing discussion in our session on "The Value of Patient Involvement: Combating Stigma, Discrimination, and Celebrating Strengths", thank you everyone! I included our work at Fragile X International published last week in #Neurodiversity, "The joys of fragile X: Understanding the strengths of fragile X and delivering a diagnosis in a helpful, holistic way"; and talked about how words matter in combatting stigma, referencing our successful campaign in changing the name of the FMR1 gene to Fragile X Messenger Ribonucleoprotein 1 (see Cells article https://lnkd.in/ek8rxnCM).
