Why an Integrated Supply Program Matters? Many growing businesses hesitate to optimize their supply chain due to initial costs, believing their current sourcing model is sufficient. However, the manual processes and lack of transparency pose risks to their organization’s growth. How can an Integrated Supply program help? Integrated supply refers to the coordination and synchronization of all activities and processes across the supply chain to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall performance. If Cost Reduction is a top priority then start with analyzing your Tail Spend! Cost reduction is a top priority for most procurement teams, often focusing on strategic categories, which represent about 80% of the total spend. However, the remaining 20%, known as tail spend, is often overlooked. Tail spend includes one-off purchases and low-value, high-volume transactions involving multiple suppliers. Although these purchases are indirect and non-core, they are essential for the organization's smooth operation and financial success. According to the Boston Consulting Group, actively managing tail spend can result in cost savings of 5 to 10% and despite its importance, tail spend is often challenging to manage, due to its complexity and low strategic significance. The biggest challenge lies in the lack of data visibility, caused by multiple systems, departmental silos, poor supplier data and decentralized purchasing. At GIS International, tail spend management programs control and track transactions and the logistics flow effectively (“flowgistics”), including the buffer stock and rationalize the supplier database for tail spend by reducing waste and shorten cycle times. Is source to pay really the way forward ? Source to pay (S2P) is one of the many services offered by GIS International. It’s a strategic approach to procurement, encompassing the entire procurement process within an organization, from the initial identification of needs through to the payment of suppliers. It integrates various stages such as sourcing, contracting, purchasing, receiving, and payment into a cohesive framework. At GIS International we have brought S2P to C-Class or Tail Spend. Why and what are the benefits, read the blog here: https://loom.ly/v-c7iqI #tailspend #sourcing #purchasing #procurement #cclass

What is the Difference between Logistics and Supply Chain? In a new series of LinkedIn posts, we would like to take a closer look at the many aspects regarding procurement, logistics and things related. Logistics is primarily concerned with the efficient management of operations related to the movement and storage of goods. This includes inventory management, transportation, handling, and distribution. The goal of logistics is to optimize these processes to reduce costs and improve efficiency at each stage, ensuring that goods are delivered in the most effective manner. Supply Chain Management (SCM), on the other hand, takes a broader, more strategic approach. It encompasses the entire network involved in producing and delivering a product, from raw materials to the final customer. SCM integrates all supply chain links into a cohesive and collaborative system. It aims to maximize value for the end customer by effectively coordinating activities such as demand forecasting, procurement, production, logistics, and distribution. It also includes critical functions like accounting and customer service. In essence, while logistics focuses on the optimization of specific processes, supply chain management seeks to streamline and align all aspects of the supply chain into a unified and efficient operation. In short: Logistics and supply chain management share common goals related to performance, sustainability, and profitability. However, their scope and perspectives differ, making them both distinct and complementary components of business strategy. Effective alignment of logistics and supply chain management is crucial for supporting business activities and ensuring overall success.
