Dismantling and recycling Rare Earth Elements from End-of-life products for the European Green Transition

About us

REEPRODUCE is a European project funded under the Horizon Europe programme with a budget of €12.6 million. The project's objective is to provide Europe with its first resilient and complete REEs (Rare Earth Elements) recycling value chain, at industrial scale and at competitive costs (compared to REEs primary production), and using sustainable technologies from an environmental and social point of view. The project will capitalize on the knowledge generated by previous R&D projects and will tackle all the remaining technical challenges along the entire value chain. REEPRODUCE will develop a pilot able to recycle 70 t of Permanent Magnet (PM) per year from a variety of End of life (EoL) products carrying Neodymium (Nd)-based PMs and other Rare Earth Elements Oxide (REO)-mixtures and Rare Earth Elements Alloy (REA). The project is coordinated by SINTEF. Formed by key partners covering the entire life cycle, from EoL products' recycling companies to end-users, REEPRODUCE aims at creating a stable and circular value chain for REEs, thus supporting Europe's emerging green-technology industries. This project received funding from the European Union, through its research and innovation programme - Horizon Europe, under grant agreement No 101057733.
