Kidney disease is one of the world’s leading causes of death — but despite that, general public awareness is very low. Each year, between 5 and 11 million people die from kidney disease. It’s the third fastest-growing cause of death worldwide and the only non-communicable disease with a rising mortality rate. Despite the high prevalence, public awareness of kidney disease is low. It is overlooked, undertreated, and under-resourced in public health policies — making it a dangerous, often silent, killer. But this doesn’t have to be true. We can change that, by making kidney disease a policy priority. By signing our petition, you can help shift the focus and demand that policymakers give kidney disease the urgent attention it needs. With your support, we can urge United Nations Member States to call on the World Health Organization to recognize kidney disease as a top priority, potentially saving millions of lives. Sign our petition, and help drive global change. #KidneyHealthMatters https://ow.ly/YlmN50ThwCb+

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Suiza #kidneyhealthforall
"The World Health Organization and the International Society of Nephrology are long-term partners in our shared effort to improve kidney health around the world. As you know, the prevalence of chronic kidney disease is increasing globally, most rapidly in low- and middle-income countries, which have fewer resources to meet this growing burden. Supporting all countries to improve the prevention and management of non-communicable diseases, including kidney disease, is a key area of focus for WHO." 🧠 On #WorldMentalHealthDay, let's shine a light on the important connection between mental health and chronic kidney disease (CKD). Evidence shows that people living with CKD are at a higher risk of experiencing anxiety, depression, and emotional stress due to the physical, social, and financial burdens of the disease. Managing mental health is key to improving overall well-being and treatment outcomes for people living with kidney disease. By addressing mental health early and holistically, we can enhance quality of life and support better kidney health. Join us in advocating for mental health care as an essential part of managing chronic diseases like CKD. Together, we can make a difference! Stay informed, and support the ISN petition for a World Health Organization kidney health resolution. Together, we can make kidney health a global priority.
