Young European Federalists Simply a Generation Ahead.
About us
The goal of JEF is the creation of a democratic European federation as a crucial ingredient for peace, a guarantee for a more free, just and democratic society and a first step towards a world federation. JEF promotes true European Citizenship, works for the widening and deepening of the EU and strives for a more just and integrated society on the European continent. It is independent from all political parties and ideologies and pursues its objectives autonomously. Nevertheless, the organisation can of course participate in the exchange of opinions and experiences with political movements, public institutions, associations and the general public. JEF Europe is composed of 32 national sections and about 250 local sections. JEF is a network of about 15000 young people. How do we spread our ideas? Campaigns to lobby over a longer period of time for a specific federalist cause; Street actions mobilising the entire network to raise awareness of burning European issues among the general public; International events such as seminars and trainings on a wide range of topics in different EU and non-EU countries; A multilingual, interactive webzine thenewfederalist.eu where youth can voice its opinion in articles on current European affairs; Projects that implement a specific goal and for which specific funding was received; Press releases for the advocacy of our objectives towards both public and private organisations. Our network is volunteer-based and youth-led. Besides a few staff members in the headquarters in Brussels, most of our members listing JEF experiences on their LinkedIn profiles are volunteers. They develop strong project and event management skills, knowledge about EU policies and affairs, as well as lobbying and advocacy competences. The skills, competences and attitudes they develop during their volunteering time are extremely valuable in many professional fields and careers.

Today, Forefront Advisers and JEF Europe had the privilege of hosting an engaging roundtable discussion featuring Lithuania’s EU Ambassador, Arnoldas Pranckevičius, at our offices in Brussels. We addressed some pivotal topics, including the lessons from the past mandate, sanctions, and the EU defence industry. A heartfelt thank you to the Ambassador for his invaluable insights, and to everyone who attended and participated in the discussion. As the election draws nearer, our event series is only increasing momentum! Connect with me to know more about Forefront Advisers' event agenda for the next few, pivotal days ahead of the elections.

Our outgoing Secretary General, Judit Lantai, wrote an article about #EurHope for the 37th issue of Coyote magazine on #YouthParticipation! ➡ Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/dmCZvayd Coyote is an online magazine published by the partnership between the European Commission and the Council of Europe in the field of youth (Youth Partnership) and explores youth participation and its contribution to our societies, economies and #democracy. The article highlights the role of youth organizations and youth workers in promoting #democraticparticipation amid global crises, and the importance of young people turning up to vote in the upcoming 2024 #EuropeanElections and what they would like to see. Our EurHope campaign defines this well in our Agenda of Hope (https://lnkd.in/eGRbg5bD). "Elections do not start at the ballot box" - Europe's future depends on our daily efforts to promote hopeful alternatives and support a Europe that leaves no one behind. As a final step, it's important to express your choice - don't forget to cast your vote between the 6-9 June! 🗳 #UseYourVote #EUelections2024 #youthorganizations

Yesterday, JEF Europe co-organized, in collaboration with Forefront Advisers and DeHavilland EU, an insightful event on the upcoming #EUElections2024, focusing on Europe's #challenges and expected changes. We were honoured to host Giacomo Filibeck, Secretary General of the Party of European Socialists (PES). ➡ Filibeck provided valuable insights into Europe's political, economic, social, and #environmentalissues, emphasizing the need for #solidarity and #progressivepolicies. We also discussed crucial reforms and strategic shifts to address these challenges and ensure a resilient #Europe. ✨ Thanks to all who participated! #EurHope #EuropeanUnion

Last month JEF Europe successfully completed the Second International #Training for #Minority Voices in Youth-lead Organizations, hosted in Tarragona, Spain! 🏖🌞 This second capacity-building training was conducted under the framework of the Work Plan 2024 Let's Speak #Diversity!, a project funded by the European Youth Foundation of the Council of Europe. Throughout the training, participants delved into crucial topics and developed a lot of skills, including: 🌟Introducing the concepts of #ethnic and #linguistic #minorities and understanding the Council of Europe's efforts on protecting ethnic and linguistic minorities 🌟Non-violent Communication and Unconscious Biases, as well as and introduction to #intersectionality and minority rights 🌟Ideas for inclusive minority #engagement through non-formal education tools 🌟Crafting #campaigns and #localactions within minority communities 🌟Exploring #allyship strategies for the future From our side we would like to thank our incredible trainers Anouk Ooms, Roman GOJAYEV and Shawgi Ahmed who facilitated all these sessions! Your expertise and dedication crafting all of the sessions was key in making this training a success! Special thanks as well to Aron Diatta Poch for also leading a session sharing insights on the local context in Catalonia and Spain regarding diversity and inclusion, from their work in Associació Acathi to the initiatives they lead within their collective Nea Onnim. We extend our appreciation to Alex Gomez Bedmar, Lilla Héjas and Michela Procoli (she/her) for their efforts in organizing and coordinating this training! And last but not least, we want to thank all participants who were the core of this training and amazingly engaged thorought the whole event. Stay tuned for more exciting updates! The call to apply for micro-granting the local actions is just around the corner!

✨ Last week, our Secretary-General Judit Lantai attended the #ElectoralRally of the European Greens and delivered a passionate speech on why fighting for #federalism remains crucial for the future of Europe and the importance of supporting new member states in the process of accession to join the #EuropeanUnion. ‘The natural next step for Europe is another #enlargement and deeper integration among already existing member states if we want to live by the values our concept of #Europe was created for after the hardships of the second world war. If we fail to do this, Europe as we know it, disappears.' - Judit Lantai As the #Europeanelections approach we need to use our vote to define the future of Europe! Don’t forget to vote between the 6-9 June 🗳
