📢 Refractory Osteoarthritis in active and sportive patients: new solutions or dead end?   Athletes and active individuals face unique challenges when dealing with osteoarthritis. Beyond managing pain, the goal is to maintain mobility and performance. When conventional treatments reach their limits, what other options are available?   Two specialists from different fields are coming together to discuss a new perspective: the carboxymethyl-chitosan.   🔹 Prof. Thomas Neri –will present a review of the literature on carboxymethyl-chitosan (CM-Chitosan), a molecule derived from button mushroom (agaricus bisporus), in managing osteoarthritic and athletic patients. Last Thursday at IV Curso Internacional OrtobioMsk, Prof. Krik Heusdens, MD, PhD took the stage to share his insights on "𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒃𝒐𝒙𝒚𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒚𝒍-𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒕𝒐𝒔𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂𝒈𝒆𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝑲𝑹 𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒈𝒊𝒃𝒍𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒔", alongside our partner Biotechpromed. It was also great to have our colleague Nicolas Portelange there to take part in the discussions!   With osteoarthritis (OA) affecting more active and younger patients, managing the condition effectively before resorting to total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is becoming increasingly important... the OA tsunami is coming 🌊   Prof. Heusdens highlighted: ✔️ How delaying TKA by just five years could help reduce up to 17% of revision surgeries, which often have poorer outcomes than the initial procedure. ✔️ The vicious cycle of OA, where pain limits movement, leading to further deterioration. ✔️ The role of KioMedine as an innovative alternative, supported by clinical studies and real-world experience.   Beyond the data, the discussion focused on what this means for daily practice—helping patients maintain mobility, manage symptoms, and potentially delay surgery with better treatment strategies. 💬 Questions?
