The VIB Student Research Award for Best #Bachelor Thesis was awarded to our students 🎉 The project, titled "From Chip to Gene: #Microfluidics and #CRISPR in an Integrated Scene", was related to combining microfluidics and CRISPR-based #imaging for #single_cell visualization 🤯 An amazing work by the Bachelor students, only made possible with the help of their supervisors Charlotte Van Tricht and Aurélie Mohrbacher (#PhD students) and Prof. Jeroen Lammertyn 👨🔬 👩🔬 🔭 Congratulations to the students and supervisors. Last week, our team members Claudia Scarpellini and Seppe Driesen attended the Single-Molecule Sensors and NanoSystems International Conference #S3IC in Paris! 🥐 Claudia presented her work on developing an innovative platform for single-molecule studies of nanoswitches for continuous biosensing. Seppe talked about DNA nanosensors, using the implementation of nucleic acid enzymes on DNA origami for single-molecule biosensing 🔬🧬 We thank the organising committee and PremC for this great opportunity to interact with the single-molecule community! 🤩 KU Leuven Department of Biosystems #Lammertynlab

🌟 Exciting Times at microTAS 2024! 🌟   Our lab had an incredible experience at MicroTAS 2024! Our team members Julie Van Lent, Karen Ven, Wannes Verbist, Aurélie Mohrbacher, Annelies Dillen, Simão Santos, and Francesca Pollet presented their poster, showcasing our lab's hard work and innovation 👨🔬👩🔬   A huge congratulations to Jorik W., who won the Young Researcher Poster Award—a well-deserved recognition of his exceptional work! 🎉   It was great to have Jeroen Lammertyn accompanying us on this trip, adding to the camaraderie and making the experience even more memorable. Last week I had the opportunity to attend microTAS 2024 in Montreal, Canada. Here I was able to enjoy many interesting talks, poster presentations and interactions with my fellow researchers. #AwesomeNews: Here is the last Research Foundation Flanders - FWO grant student! Nicholas Alberg has received a Research Foundation Flanders - FWO grant for the project: "Innovating the #microfluidics-based #singlecell and spatial multi-omics landscape with MOSAIC-Drop and DBiT-Spot"! 🧬🦠 When we spoke with Nicholas, he shared his excitement about being awarded the scholarship: "I’m incredibly grateful for being awarded the #FWO scholarship and excited to begin my PhD journey. I look forward to contributing meaningful research to the single-cell multi-omics field." 💪 This project is a collaboration between the #Lammertynlab, under the supervision of Dr. Karen Ven, and the Lab of Reproductive Genomics, having as a co-promotor Professor Thierry Voet, with general collaborations within KU Leuven Institute for KU Leuven Institute for Single Cell Omics (LISCO) for clinical samples. #AwesomeNews: Here is the third most recent Research Foundation Flanders - FWO grant student! Meet Roselien Verboven; she will be working on Micro-engineered tools to study #cell_cell communication: A case study on the #perivascular niche in #melanoma #cancer for the next 4 years. A great project with plenty of opportunities for interesting results! 👩🔬 She told us she is "truly honored to be awarded this grant, and excited to continue my #research.
