That’s a wrap! Last week, we celebrated Sustainability Week at Materialise, an initiative full of activities, learning experiences, and inspirational events around our offices, such as: ✅ Engimplan (Brazil): organized tree-planting activities to offset paper usage, along with a fitness-meets-eco challenge where participants jog while collecting litter (also known as “plogging”). ✅ Malaysia: set up an open mic on sustainability to encourage discourse, as well as selling or exchanging second-hand items, promoting the value of reusing and recycling. ✅ Ukraine: raised awareness around saving on utilities and organized a book collection for libraries, promoting education and connection through sustainable reading. ✅ USA: partnered with the “Greening of Detroit” initiative to plant trees and support local green spaces to contribute to a healthier environment while deepening community connections. ✅ A sustainability-orientated business game in Japan; an organized hike in the UK; and maintaining flora in the Czech Republic. A big thank you to all our sustainability ambassadors and for everyone's participation! 👏 It was the perfect opportunity to create awareness and educate employees about our sustainability roadmap and initiatives. However, you may be wondering: what does ‘sustainability’ really mean at Materialise (and why should I care)? Well, it’s our way of focusing on three key areas — people, planet, and prosperity — to ensure we can meet our present needs without compromising the future generations' ability to meet their own. And just like we want YOU to make a difference with additive manufacturing — whether in your business or as one of our passionate innovators, shaping industries and changing lives globally — our push to empower the choice for sustainability affects everyone. From reducing our CO2 emissions by 55% by 2029 and promoting the value of recycling items to encouraging sustainable commuting, we’re committed to positively impacting the environment. Fostering positive social change through initiatives prioritizing fair labor practices, inclusion, and ethical business operations is also our priority. Additionally, our corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts focus on community engagement, employee well-being, and providing opportunities for education and development. This is alongside our efforts to reduce raw material emissions by optimizing our production processes and repurposing powder by reusing it or giving it an alternative life. As we look to the future, our commitment to sustainability remains unwavering and is central to our vision. We'll continue working with our suppliers, partners, and peers to drive this transformation. Because making a sustainable difference is the right thing to do for our planet, customers, and future generations for a better and healthier world!

Who shapes our AM world? Our talented, ambitious, and intelligent women, that’s who! We have bright women doing many roles throughout Materialise, and we’re proud to say they’re lighting up the industry, too! We believe organizations and society must encourage more women to enter science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields so that we can utilize their talents and represent the other half of the global population. Plus, diversity in the workplace increases creativity, innovation, and commercial success for companies that take it seriously. In this article, we spoke to three inspirational women at Materialise about their additive manufacturing journey, as they shared their challenges, triumphs, and tips on how to get more women into the industry. https://mtls.am/47MJfzW #WomenAtMaterialise #WorkplaceDiversity #WomenIn3DPrinting #WomenInSTEM

Why are patient-specific treatments the future of healthcare? Because 3D technology and personalized solutions are more attuned to patients’ needs, speed up clinical workflows, and can improve medical outcomes. Listen to Saravana Kumar, CEO of 4C Medical Technologies, Inc., explain how focusing on solutions that fit the patient's anatomy, for example, in the case of custom mitral valve replacement, helps patients recover more effectively. #PersonalizedMedicalSolutions #PatientSpecificMedicalProducts #CustomMitralValveReplacement

We’re proud to mark two decades of success at our Czech facility! 🎉 This plant plays a vital role in our global operations, specifically through its vacuum casting expertise. What began primarily as a prototyping solution has now evolved into a reliable manufacturing method, producing high-quality plastic parts with intricate finishing. With a team of 64 dedicated employees, the facility produces up to 3,500 parts each month, bridging the gap between prototyping and full-scale production. While vacuum casting may not always be in the spotlight, its impact is undeniable in industries like automotive, healthcare, and industrial goods. This technology plays a key role in delivering small-batch production with efficiency and precision. A big thank you to our exceptional team in the Czech Republic for 20 years of dedication and excellence. Here's to many more years of innovation! 👏🌟 https://mtls.am/47UkW3f

You don’t need a background in AM to make a difference in the industry. We have experienced employees from many different backgrounds, like Evan Kirby. He transitioned from a Nuclear Power Training Unit Instructor in the US Navy to a Software Application Engineering Manager, so anything goes! In our Life at Materialise article, he discussed his seafaring experience, how he remains motivated in AM, and how he keeps reinventing himself after more than two decades at Materialise. Take a look! https://mtls.am/3TwcfpE

3D printing for aerospace offers a drastically faster time-to-market than conventional manufacturing for small-batch series and customized parts. Why? Because it’s reliable, efficient, and doesn’t need production tooling beforehand. Jannik Zimmermann, Additive Manufacturing Engineer at Airbus, explains how AM polymer technologies offer increased efficiency and how we’re making a difference to their business, becoming one of their most valuable suppliers for AM parts. #Aerospace #AMSmallBatchSeries #AMCustomizedParts #Airbus
