Official start of construction: A 16,000 m² state-of-the-art sustainable DC expansion for Vos Logistics in Oss The partnership between Montea and Vos Logistics goes back to 2014, when Montea acquired Vos’ existing distribution center through a sale & leaseback. Now, we are taking the next step by expanding the premises with a cutting-edge, sustainable facility. With the first shovel in the ground, construction is officially underway. Cedric Montanus (Montea), Ben Vos (Vos Logistics), and ✔️ Tom Kropf (Unibouw) marked the start of this future-ready DC. 🔹 Strategic expansion: Expansion of the existing Vos Logistics facility, located in a key logistics hub in North Brabant, with strong connections to national and European transport networks. 🔹 Sustainability at its core: The building targets BREEAM Excellent certification, integrating rooftop solar panels, battery storage solutions, and infrastructure for electric truck charging. 🔹 A future-proof design: Developed by Montea and built by Unibouw, the facility will feature 15 loading docks, 14,300 m² of warehouse space, a 1,600 m² mezzanine, and 300 m² of office space, ensuring efficiency and long-term flexibility. This project is yet another example of Montea’s long-term vision and commitment to sustainable logistics real estate. Completion expected by the end of 2025. 🔋 Minister-President Matthias Diependaele opens Montea’s first energy hub in Willebroek 🔋 Montea is stepping up its commitment to sustainable logistics real estate with the launch of its first battery energy hub in Willebroek, part of one of the largest smart energy storage projects in Belgium. Across 13 logistics sites in the country, we are installing systems to store and optimize renewable energy – 6 of which are delivered by partner iwell. Minister-President Matthias Diependaele emphasized its strategic importance: "Flanders is a premier region for logistics, and securing that leadership requires strategic infrastructure investments. Montea exemplifies how businesses can take the lead in pioneering innovative and competitive solutions." Energy availability is a growing challenge in logistics. Montea’s energy hubs store solar energy and deploy it when needed, solving capacity shortages and peak demand mismatches. Jo De Wolf, CEO of Montea, explains: "We are not just building for today; we are building for future generations. Here in Willebroek, stored solar energy powers our buildings, heats warehouses with heat pumps, and charges e-trucks used by our client, Dachser." For DACHSER, this hub is a game-changer for zero-emission transport. Tom Verheyen, Country Manager Belgium at Dachser, shares: "Montea’s investment in battery storage makes it possible for Dachser Belgium to introduce our first electric trucks. Without this energy hub, that wouldn’t have been possible." iwell’s smart Energy Management System (EMS) ensures efficient energy use. Building a greener future starts with collaboration. Since September, I have been actively involved—alongside a group of core founders—in laying the foundation for the Belgian Green Building Council. Last week, I represented Montea at the first Founder’s Gathering, where more than 30 industry leaders came together to drive sustainability in the built environment. With a mission to bridge industry, real estate, academia, finance, and policymakers, the BGBC aims to provide much-needed clarity and guidance in the transition to a more sustainable future. By positioning Belgium’s sustainable expertise on the (inter)national stage, this platform will serve as a single point of contact for knowledge exchange and innovation. A big thank you to Lesley Grégoire and Caroline Mouton for leading this first gathering and bringing together such a strong group of partners.
