The Union of Ukrainian Women in Belgium is a non-profit organization created in 1948 to unite Ukrainian immigrant women in Belgium and defend Ukraine's interests.
UWIB comprises three local cells: Brussels, Liège, and Antwerp.
We are a member of the International Committee and a member World Federation of Ukrainian Women's Organisations. In 2015 we were given an ING Solidarity award.
The objectives of the UWIB are:
Organize charitable events, fundraising campaigns, cultural events, evenings, concerts, marches, demonstrations, and participate in fairs, exhibitions, and festivals
Cultivate the sense of unity, historical continuity, and safeguard the cultural heritage of the Ukrainian people
Ensure the preservation of Ukrainian identity
Create and maintain contacts with international women's organizations, to represent Ukrainian women, and defend their interests
Today, UWIB focuses on humanitarian aid for the wounded, disabled, and orphaned by the war in Eastern Ukraine that has been raging since 2014 and all of Ukraine since 22 Feb 2022.
