The AI1-P1911 camera features the 2.86MP Sony Pregius IMX429 Global Shutter CMOS sensor with a native resolution of 1944 x 1472 in a 2/3” optical format delivering up to 40 frames per second with GigE Vision®, Power over Ethernet (PoE)® output. The camera’s AI core allows running the custom trained Convolutional Neural Network for a wide range of tasks including object classification, detection, and segmentation. The AI1-P1911 supports Common Industrial Protocol (CIPTM) and EtherNet/IPTM for rapid integration with the Rockwell Automation equipment. By combining the powerful Imperx camera control with an IP67 rated enclosure protecting the camera from dust, water, and other contaminants, the AI1-P1911 can be utilized in harsh environments including food and beverage manufacturing, intelligent transportation systems, and surveillance. 🚨 NEW PRODUCTS 🚨 Imperx announces the expansion of the popular Cheetah family of rugged industrial cameras into the short-wave infrared with the introduction of eight new camera models based on Sony’s SenSWIR technology. These cameras offer sensitivity in both the visible and the short-wave Infrared (SWIR) portions of the spectrum from 400 nm to 1700 nm. Many applications are enabled by SWIR sensitivity including fruit sorting, foreign object detection, wafer inspection, and temperature monitoring. In addition, SWIR light penetrates smoke and fog, making SWIR cameras valuable additions to the sensor suites of ground and air-based vehicles. The new cameras are offered in imaging resolutions of .33MP, 1.31MP, 3.21MP and 5.32MP. In each resolution, Imperx offers both Camera Link® and GigE Vision® output options with integrated power. The SWIR Cheetah cameras are designed to perform in harsh environments. All cameras in this series are MIL-STD-810G compliant and have a wide operating temperature range of -30 °C to +75 °C.  The new generation of SWIR filters from Schneider-Kreuznach allow short-wave infrared light to pass through in a narrow band and block unwanted ambient light. Due to their narrow bandwidth and steep edges, the filters only transmit the wavelength range required to capture high-precision details. Choosing the right lighting angle is crucial for capturing the best image in machine vision applications. Whether it's a low-angle light, top-down illumination, or something more angular from the sides, the goal is always the same: find the direction that gives you the clearest image. Personally, I like starting with an HPR2. Why? It’s versatile—acting as a low-angle light at short working distances and a bright field light at longer ones. This flexibility lets you quickly assess whether you need a dark field or bright field image without changing lights. Remember, while certain applications tend to favor bright or dark field lighting, there are no hard and fast rules. For example: - Bright Field: Best for detecting the presence or absence of objects, orientation, and reading barcodes or OCR unless embossed. - Dark Field: Ideal for highlighting engraved or embossed text, scratches, seams, or any surface height changes. But don’t rely solely on assumptions—sometimes, the results might surprise you. It never hurts to move your light up and down to confirm the best direction of light. #machinevision #ledlighting #industrialautomation
