Why is a size S in one brand equivalent to an M in another? 🤔 I want to thank Weekend Knack and the brilliant, passionate journalist Sarah Vandoorne for highlighting this issue. Special thanks to Tom Duhoux from VITO for his research, pointing out that knowing which product fits us can prevent waste. As he rightly said, a universal standard for clothing could prevent vanity sizing. To Alexandra De Raeve from HoGent for her research in fashion and textiles, and to Ulrike Schoepfel from C&A, who identified this issue two years ago and started working on consistency across Europe. So here is my moonshot as a person, a tailor, an in-store sales assistant, a retail manager and industry expert, a product of a hippie and philosopher parents, taught to view things from all aspects. As a dyslexic who thinks in systems: Is this system working? you have a S in one artikel and a M in another. Is it profitable to communicate our collection via the average body size? Does anybody fit into the average? What if we leave every person exactly as they are, acknowledging no two bodies are alike? Can we not better standardize HOW we measure our product and bodies? Allow designers to create what they see as beautiful and fits there customer best. We build the digital bridge between the body and your collection, translation on product level. Size is out - Fit is in! This is the moonshot I’m calling for with my startup, SCIMM. togheter with Genius co founder Yannis De Cleene. Not a body scanner, not AI patterning or VR, but a data model. Thrilled Beyond Words! 🚀 A fabulous article just went live on FashionUnited, and I am over the moon! Sarah Vandoorne has captured not just the essence of SCIMM, but the heartbeat of our moonshot mission. Traditionele maattabellen voor kleding zijn achterhaald, omdat de ‘gemiddelde’ persoon niet meer bestaat. Scimm ontwikkelt software waarmee modebedrijven individuele lichaamsvormen als uitgangspunt nemen. Tessa Wardenburg testte de software uit op een kledingcollectie voor de Koninklijke Belgische Voetbalbond (KBVB).
