The Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce (FCCC), Silk Road Partners (BE/HK) and Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT) have jointly published a report on “Navigating through the New Chinese Business Environment”. This study provides an insight in China's transformation and what this entails for our companies. It not only offers strategic recommendations for companies which have already invested in China but also for newcomers. China's reaction to Covid-19 and the current geopolitical climate have raised questions about the risks and opportunities of doing business in and with China. This study aims to present a balanced perspective on how China has been transformed and what this means for companies which cooperate with this economic superpower. The paper highlights the historical context of China's transformation, the current economic landscape, demographic shifts, and geopolitical influences. It presents China's business-focused answer to its domestic challenges, and opportunities and strategic recommendations. The study concludes that understanding and adapting to the economic power shifts is of crucial importance. Embracing innovation, forming strategic partnerships, and remaining flexible are key to navigating the new Chinese business climate. This paper is in Dutch and can be obtained at the Flanders-China Chamber of Commerce: info@flanders-china.be. #DoingBusinessInChina #ChinaBusiness #ChinaEconomy #MarketOpportunities #InnovationInChina #InvestmentInChina #BusinessStrategy #GlobalTrade Gwenn Sonck (宋惠安) Peter Buytaert Frederic Deprez

  • SRP was present at a very entertaining panel discussion on the challenges of doing business in the changed China business environment. Peter Buytaert, Co-Founder and Exco member of SRP, presented a very balanced view on the challenges of China and also what it presented as continued opportunities. In a nutshell, nothing is easy any more in a new economic environment of China. The highway of growth became a slower cobblestone road. Yet, we cannot ignore the size and innovation power of this new dragon giant. Confronted with this change in geopolitics, we tend to protect ourselves and become rather fearful. This is reflected in current EU and US policies. Instead, we should at least explore this new reality and, without being naive, find ways of collaboration that will benefit all economies. It is clear that if a business aligns with the new high impact markets (e.g. biotech, AI, clean tech), the red carpet of investments in China is wide open and more than ever, incentives are available to support entry and expansion. Stay tuned for a paper that will be presented shortly on the topic by SRP.... https://lnkd.in/eS-z5Mec
