Our Banksmeadow Site in Australia has long been a pillar of its local community, consistently striving to make a positive impact. Their efforts focus on education, sustainability, and community well-being. Last year, Banksmeadow partnered with Scienza Viva to bring hands-on science activities to local schools. Early Stage 1 students delved into topics like Food Chemistry and Home Making, igniting their curiosity and passion for science. The site also annually donates Maths and Science scholarships to outstanding students at a local secondary school. But their contributions don’t stop there. The site has been a part of various community initiatives, from tree planting and birdhouse building to clean-up activities and fundraisers. Recently, with the help of the council, 14 employees planted nearly 800 trees in a local park, rejuvenating the area as part of their sustainability efforts. 🌳 Whether it’s supporting education, enhancing green spaces, donating blood or promoting mental health, Banksmeadow is committed to making a difference. We are thrilled to announce the successful completion and start up of Solvay's first licensed hydrogen peroxide mega plant in China, located in Hubei Yichang! This state-of-the-art facility, designed captive use for caprolactam production, marks a significant milestone in customer’s journey to support the nylon 6 (PA6) industry. With an impressive annual output of 200,000 tons of hydrogen peroxide, this plant is set to redefine efficiency and reliability in the industry. A huge thank you to our partner, Hubei Sanning Chemical Co., Ltd., for their collaboration and dedication over the past three years. Together, we have not only advanced the technology but also built a strong foundation for future licensing projects in China. This achievement is just the beginning! From August 12 to 16, we celebrated Safety Week at our São Paulo site in Brazil, reaffirming our dedication to creating a safe and healthy workplace. This year, we had the pleasure of hosting both in-person events and online lectures, ensuring that knowledge and awareness reached our entire team. Highlights: 🩺 Bioimpedance Assessment: Employees checked their body composition, flexibility, and other crucial health data. 🏎️ Safety Circuit: An engaging activity where employees used glasses to simulate drowsiness and then drove a quadricycle through a course. They also stacked cups with altered coordination and navigated a high-voltage simulation. 🎭 Interactive Play: Four of our dedicated contractors performed a play highlighting the importance of health, quality of life, and strict adherence to safety procedures. By modernizing control systems and optimizing steam production, we've managed to reduce natural gas consumption, resulting in a €800,000 annual savings and cutting 15,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. Today, our site in Alorton continues this legacy by contributing high-quality raw materials that impact everyday life. Established in 1902, the site has been a cornerstone of innovation and industrial excellence for over a century. Our team at this plant processes 100% anhydrous hydrogen fluoride (AHF) from our Juárez plant in Mexico, to produce aqueous hydrogen fluoride, potassium fluoride (KF), and ammonium fluoride (AF). These materials are essential in industries such as quartz refining, stainless steel pickling, white metal refining, and glass etching.
