🌟 One of the coolest things about my new job is getting the opportunity to visit fascinating factories and see firsthand how the products we use every day are made. Last week, I had the pleasure of visiting one of the largest glass transformation factories in Belgium—Sprimoglass. It was an eye-opening experience to witness the entire process of how the windows we look through daily are created. From the arrival and storage of massive 5-tonne glass packages, through the intricate stages of cutting, treating, washing, assembling, and finally, delivery—there are so many critical questions to be answered. How do you safely handle 6x3.2 meter glass sheets? How do you ensure worker safety throughout the process? How do you optimize cutting plans to minimize waste? And how do you scan for damages and impurities to uphold the highest quality standards? The Sprimoglass team has been mastering these challenges since 1892, and since 2014, under the leadership of Frédéric De Gucht, they've continued to push the boundaries of excellence. Their commitment to quality and innovation has earned them the title of Best Managed Company in both 2022 and 2023—a testament to their industry leadership. A special thanks to Steven Peeters Peters for being an outstanding and passionate guide. The passion and dedication I observed from everyone on the shop floor were truly inspiring.
