An exciting second day at the World Food Forum! 🌍🍽️ Food processing is an essential step for producing healthy and safe food. We see a lot of challenges in this step, but we also see a lot of potential! Yesterday, we had the privilege of participating in the side event: Digital Innovation in Food Processing: Catalyzing Change. This was the only session that focused on food processing in our food system during the World Food Forum. Together with a great panel of speakers we advocated that innovation in food processing is essential to create a sustainable food system for the future! It was great to hear that also the participants of our session fully agreed on this. There's a strong demand for more discussions on food processing in future editions, and we’ll gladly take up the challenge to make sure that there are more sessions next year and put this topic on the agenda again! I am proud to be a part of this first step with a passionate team. Veerle De Graef, Norbert Reichl, Celeste Macilwaine, Neamat ElTazi and Lisannevan Oosterhoud. We agreed that; - The power of collaboration and sharing expertise and experience is essential. - Start with small steps to leverage innovations in food processing. - Innovation in food processing will have a significant impact in making our food system sustainable for future generations in many ways. 🌍October: International Month - World Food Forum! 🌍 Yesterday marked an exciting milestone at the World Food Forum in Rome! I had the privilege of participating in the finals of the Startup Innovation Award: Digital Innovation in Food Processing. This special category, a collaboration among SS4AF, HIGHFIVE, QING | Forward Engineering and Next Tech Food Factories, was created with the invaluable support of FAO and Extreme Tech Challenge. Together, we celebrated the outstanding innovations transforming food processing. 🎉 Our two exceptional finalists, Safi and PoultrySync, made it a tough choice, but in the end, there can only be one winner. Congratulations to Safi for taking home the first-ever award for Digital Innovation in Food Processing! Their achievements exemplify the power of digital transformation in the food industry. The 1st of September was a big day for us—we launched the SIXFOLD project! 🚀 This was followed by a two-day partners' kickoff meeting, marking the beginning of many fruitful discussions. 🏆 Over the next two years, our goal is to grow and strengthen the network of Living Labs, connecting agrifood companies, tech innovators, and regulators across Europe. Through this synergy, we aim to create meaningful changes that will positively impact the agrifood sector. What impact will SIXFOLD have?  🌱 Empowering 150 agrifood companies to test and implement cutting-edge technologies. 🌱 Organizing six major study visits and co-creative sessions, with insights shared across at least eight partnerships and networks. 🌱 Delivering a comprehensive sustainability plan and governance model to ensure the network’s long-term success.
