Since 1988, Michael has worked as Director of the Foreign Languages Centre, University of Bath, UK; Director of INSEAD Executive Education in Singapore; Managing Director, Center for Creative Leadership (CCL), Asia Pacific and CEO, Roffey Park Institute (UK). In 2020 he set up his own company Expert Humans. As an Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore Business School he currently teaches on the Executive MBA (Future of Work) and on a variety of customised leadership and OD programmes for NUS Executive Education. He is the author of 'Expert Humans: Critical Leadership Skills for a Disrupted World' (2021) and 'Toxic Humans – Combatting Poisonous Leadership in Boards and Organisations' (2024) published by Emerald. Michael will examine the adverse effects of dysfunctional boards and senior teams and how they have the potential to destroy an organisation’s culture. He will share stories about people in organizations who have suffered in toxic workplaces and the strategies they adopted to survive. He will also discuss the Toxicity Spectrum – a way of noticing the behavior of super-empaths at one end and psychopaths and narcissists on the other and suggest ways that organizations can address the phenomenon of Systemic Toxic Collusion.
