Net-Zero aligned electricity carbon accounting is key for the energy transition and can further #energystorage deployment. A great starter kit on Granular GO implementation has been prepared by EnergyTag for regulators and issuing bodies alike. It covers key practical elements: 1. Regulatory considerations for those implementing RED 3 2. Issuance considerations for Issuing bodies 3. FAQs on this topic.
What are the practical regulatory and technical considerations when moving to Granular Guarantees of Origin in Europe? Check out the succinct Starter Kit we published today (Link: https://lnkd.in/etHJR-yP) which covers key practical steps regulators and issuing bodies can take to leverage the Granular GO provisions in RED3. This is a follow-up to the joint call for Granular GO (Link: https://lnkd.in/gKH5Z5Fg) we issued alongside the EU electricity, storage, and flexibility sectors a few months back calling for Granular GOs. Granular GOs send critical signals for renewable integration and flexibility and help with the verification of products like Renewable Hydrogen.

🟢 #ESGC2024 Session 3.8: The Benelux Market "Belgium". Speakers joined the discussion about the favorable business environment for energy storage in Belgium. They highlighted the country's promising capacity market, explored key revenue streams, and discussed what's next for Belgium as it continues to develop its energy storage capabilities. 🎙️ Frank Van den Spiegel from ENGIE: "The German, Belgian and Dutch markets have different competitive advantages. The Capacity Remuneration Mechanism (CRM) in Belgium represent 10%-20% of a BESS's revenue. The presence of long-term contracts helps project financing." 🎙️ Pierre Bayart from BSTOR: " It's positive that in Belgium there is a special legal definition for storage. The federal government, regulator and TSO did their regulatory homework already in 2017, before the Clean Energy Package (CEP)." 🎙️ Dirk-Jan Middelkoop from Fluence: "Grid fees in Netherlands are generally high and rising. However, there are ways to get out of them in the storage sector." #EnergyStorage #Belgium #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #BusinessDevelopment

🔵 #ESGC2024 Session 3.7: The Benelux Market "The Netherlands". The speakers examine the evolving energy storage market in the Netherlands. With electrification on the rise, they explored the unique business cases driving the deployment of storage and the opportunities emerging in this rapidly changing landscape. Jon Ferris from LCP Delta presented the introduction to the Benelux Market section of the conference. 🎙️ Koen Broess from DNV: "BESS unit prices are decreasing in Europe and grid fees are decreasing in the Netherlands. There's no need for subsidies for BESS in the Netherlands." 🎙️ Emiel van Druten from TenneT: "In the Netherlands, storage can play a role in congestion management, however, the current market isn't overly liquid, but storage can help balance the grid with low cost. Dutch grid tariffs are high compared to other EU member states, but might decrease next year." 🎙️ Pedro Iván Leal Jáuregui from Dexter Energy: "Ancillary services help stabilize the grid, and the Frequency Containment Reserve (FCR) used to be the main use case for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). The average weekly FCR price in the Netherlands has been on a downward trajectory since January 2022. The signs show that the FCR is getting saturated." #energystorage #energysystem #energytransition
