📢 2024 GNTC General Assembly UIRR was pleased to attend the GNTC 2024 General Assembly and "Journée du Transport Combiné", here are the key Highlights: ♦️ Rodolphe Gintz from France’s DGITM - Direction générale des infrastructures, des transports et des mobilités (Directorate General for Infrastructure, Transport, and Mobility) emphasised that, despite budget constraints in France, public investments in Combined Transport remain not only beneficial for society but is also a wise public expenditure which should be safeguarded and boosted with private capital. ♦️ UIRR Board member and VIIA and NAVILAND CARGO Executive Chairwoman Benedicte Colin emphasised the importance of European legislations for the Combined Transport sector in France, and particular attention should be paid to ensure both French and legal framework can effectively support the sector. ♦️ Combined Transport experiences a strong recovery in 2024 after a challenging 2023 🚨The landslide in the Vallée de la Maurienne is still a critical topic because of the costly disruption of IT-FR combined transport traffic. In this regard, it has become crucial that the European Commission intervenes and supports Combined Transport operators facing exceptional expenditures due to the incident of August 2023. Such event shows that is has become imperative that we establish a true European crisis management mechanism to handle similar situation in the future. ☝ This issue is among of our key requests included in our upcoming 𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿. Thank you @GNTC for inviting us at the event and for your support to the @CT4EU campaign 🌍 And Congratulations to #RémyCrochet from FROIDCOMBI for his first General Assembly as President of GNTC 👏 #UIRR #CombinedTransport #GNTC #Infrastructure #EuropeanCommission #CrisisManagement #Sustainability

CROATIA's Freight Transport Landscape: A Quick Overview from an Intermodal Perspective 🚛 🚂 ⚓ 🔴 Positioned on key TEN-T corridors like the Baltic Sea - Adriatic, Rhine-Danube, and Mediterranean routes, Croatia is a strategic logistics hub in Europe - exemplfied by the Port of Rijeka / Luka Rijeka d.d., which is a major maritime gateway for Central and East Europe. The country’s connections through the Alpine-Western Balkan Rail Freight Corridor (AWB RFC) - #EasternMediterranean corridor further enhances its importance for #intermodal freight transport. ⚪ Supported by 8 Continental Combined Transport (CT) terminals and 14 CT operators, Croatia efficiently moves freight across its well-integrated network. 🔵Croatia's strong connections to neighbouring countries and its rail infrastructure— managed by HŽ Infrastruktura d.o.o.—help ensure the flow of goods mainly towards Central Europe.
