🎤 Gathering to talk about the Digital Automatic Coupling! 💶 UNIFE fully supports the PioDAC Consortium in its work to propose, and develop the best possible sector answer to the Connecting Europe Facility funding call. 🚆 This necessary funding would allow Pioneer DAC trains to demonstrate how DAC works, and to show the benefits on a wider scale in commercial conditions. #EURail #DAC #RailSupplyIndustry

🤝 Thank you to senior members of DG MOVE, ERA and ERJU, who met with UNIFE representatives today. 🚈 What we received was a range of insights from the direction of the new Commission, the potential policy objectives for railways, and an overall response to the Draghi Competitiveness Report. 📘 Some of the key technical topics discussed included FRMCS, DAC, vehicle authorisations, while also exchanging further on policy and passing on key insights from the rail supply industry. UNIFE appreciates Kristian Schmidt, Giorgio Travaini, Pio Guido and other senior rail policymakers taking the time to meet. #EUrail

Congratulations to the Commissioner-Designate for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, who cleared their confirmation hearing last night. We call on him to defend our industry’s competitiveness in the context of increasing challenges, and acknowledge that rail is a pivotal sustainable transport solution. We welcome his positions on securing European industry and the broader work force, while also focusing on creating a level transport playing field. Paving the way to transition to a more climate friendly industry does provide challenges, which means we must assist Mr. Tzitzikostas in meeting his significant commitments made in the hearing. This said, UNIFE will also remain steadfast and work to ensure he meets expectations. UNIFE, and the broader European rail supply industry, wishes Mr. Tzitzikostas the best of luck in the future.

Live from Railway Days Investment Summit in Bucharest (🇷🇴) UNIFE Director General Enno Wiebe provides the perspective of the European Rail Supply industry: 1️⃣ Despite the market being expected to grow by 3.0% annually by 2027-2029, the overall accessibility for the EU rail suppliers continues to decline reaching 59% in 2021-2023 2️⃣ State of play in Romania: ➖ Absolute growth from 2021-2023 to 2027-2029 in Eastern Europe: 3,3% ➖ Market accessibility in Romania in 2017-2019: ~50% compared to ~65% in 2021-2023 ➖ Romania has allocated 5,072m €/a to transport, with a particular focus in infrastructure, through the Recovery and Resilience Facility (RFF) 3️⃣ Despite the positive trends there are still challenges that need to be address such as: ➖ Substantial funding through the next EU-MFF ➖ Investments, financing, and funding based on sound migration strategies ➖ Level playing field and fair competition Ministerul Transporturilor și Infrastructurii Club Feroviar Railway PRO

These recommendations included: 🇪🇺 ‘Railway Erasmus’ 🎓 National rail curriculums across Europe 🤝 Creating initiatives like the STAFFER Mentor Program, which encourages underrepresented groups in the sector. High Speed Railway Poland 2024 Major representatives of the Polish railway sector have met on the first day of the High Speed Railway Poland 2024 to discuss the future of railway high speed infrastructure services in Poland, as it is an important and growing market in the European Union. In the panel featuring Kristian Schmidt (European Commission's DG MOVE), Piotr Malepszak (Polish Ministry of Infrastructure), Alan Beroud (CEO PKP), ROC representatives, and Enno Wiebe (UNIFE) highlighted the need for long term planning, sufficient investment, and fast & continuous deployment. High-speed rail in Poland has undergone significant development in recent years, aiming to modernise the country's transportation infrastructure and improve connectivity between major cities. The flagship line currently connects #Warsaw with #Łódź and #Poznań. The Polish Government - alongside EU funding - continues to invest in high-speed rail, which aims to improve travel times, reduce carbon emissions, and boost regional economies. As this network expands, Poland is positioning itself as a key player in the European high-speed rail landscape, promoting sustainable urban mobility and economic growth. As part of remarks on the first day of the event, it was noted that the rail supply industry needs predictability to ensure industrial capacities. This is vital to guarantee the delivery of high-quality product to customers on time, according to the relevant orders. Enno Wiebe explained that the Polish rolling stock market is predicted to become the largest in the region with €1.9 billion by 2027. This will account 41% of the region’s annual rolling stock orders.
