📢 New insights from the EU Urban Agenda: #GreeningCities and #SustainableTourism Consultation Reports are now accessible❗ The newly released reports summarize valuable feedback from a diverse range of stakeholders, including EU institutions, Member States, urban authorities, EU networks, private organizations, research bodies, and civil society. This feedback was gathered during the extensive consultation process for the Action Plans, which took place from June 6 to July 31, 2024. In total, 94 stakeholders participated, submitting responses that highlighted core areas for improvement. Both reports emphasise the commitment of each UAEU Partnership to include stakeholder voices in crafting strategies that address real-world needs and challenges. 📢 Driving Change: #Food and #CitiesofEquality Partnerships met in-person last week to advance their Action Plans! Hosted by the City of Milan, co-coordinator of the partnership, the #FoodThematicPartnership meeting generated a wealth of ideas across three focus areas: Innovative Funding, EU/National Regulation, and City-Region Framework. Key concepts that emerged included promoting food democracy, enhancing food education for behavioural change, improving public procurement processes, advocating for an integrated EU food policy as well as national food policies, and developing innovative funding mechanisms to support local food initiatives. 🌍 Cities of Equality Partnership gathers in Paris! 🇫🇷 This week, partners from across Europe have gathered in Paris to start discussing concrete actions that the #CitiesofEquality Partnership will implement to shape more inclusive and equitable cities. During recent brainstorming sessions, key proposals have emerged, including: 🔹 Collecting best practices to tackle spatial segregation 🔹 Developing guidelines to integrate equality considerations in urban planning 🔹 Advocating for better EU funding for social justice frameworks 🔹 Supporting local authorities in citizen engagement efforts This is a crucial first step towards the Partnership’s Draft Action Plan, which will set out the actions that will be implemented in the next few years. 📢 It was an inspiring day in Milan, where the #FoodPartnership gathered to actively shaping the first steps of its Action Plan! Filippo Gavazzeni, head of the #MilanUrbanFoodPolicyPact Secretariat, opened the session by highlighting the significance of the partnership’s mission and efforts to create a unique European framework to support food policy at the local level. “European Union serves as an inspiration for many other countries, and we need to lead the way in transforming food systems.” During the day, partners engaged in group discussions, exchanging ideas and feedback on current initiatives, practices, and policies relevant for the partnership’s goal. Together, they explored both the progress made and the actions still needed to build more resilient and sustainable food systems in cities. 🌱 Several key ideas emerged to guide the Partnership’s future work, with a focus on advocacy for an integrated EU food policy, promoting food democracy, food education to drive behavioural change, improving food procurement, establishing funding guidelines to define key concepts and priorities for a comprehensive food funding framework.
