EU Member States are preparing to present their medium-term fiscal structural plans for the next 4-7 years to the European Commission by 20th September, and there is a critical window of opportunity to prioritise investment in health prevention, including immunisation. This new report by The European House-Ambrosetti, supported by IFPMA and Vaccines Europe, calls for a shift towards prevention-based healthcare to secure economic stability for EU health systems. The economic value of prevention has been well documented. For example, adult immunisation programmes return up to 19 times their initial investment. Despite this, most Member States dedicate only 0.5% of their healthcare budgets to prevention. We need an urgent change in direction - embedding preventative healthcare such as immunisation into EU Member States’ fiscal policies is paramount to ensure the economic sustainability of healthcare, social care, and welfare systems. https://bit.ly/4gpqWVw

Vaccination against respiratory viruses can reduce the risk of complications associated with cardiovascular diseases. To help protect people with #CVD from #flu, #RSV and #COVID19 infections, we call for: 🇭🇺 Including the value of vaccination in reducing CVD complications in the Hungarian Presidency Council Conclusions; 🗒️ Harmonising recommendations for vaccination against respiratory viruses among people with CVD; 👩⚕️ Support the education of health workers on the value of vaccination for people with CVD.

📢DID YOU KNOW THAT VACCINE PREVENTABLE DISEASES COST THE GLOBAL ECONOMY BILLIOS EUROS EVERY YEAR? Adult immunization is an important investment in public health and the economy. 🌍💸 📖 A new study "The Socio-Economic Value of Adult Immunization Programmes" has shown that adult immunization programs can save society billions of dollars and that the benefits exceed the costs by 19 times. 💰 The study examined the #health benefits and costs of adult immunization against #influenza, pneumonia, #shingles and respiratory syncytial #virus (#RSV). 🤧 📝 The results showed that #immunization of adults can prevent millions of cases of illness, hospitalizations and deaths. It can also reduce #healthcare costs and productivity costs that are lost due to the disease. 💡 The study authors recommend encouraging the adoption of a prevention-centered mindset and providing important funding to expand adult immunization programs to improve health and reduce costs. 💪 They also suggest investing in research and development to produce new #vaccines and improve access to existing vaccines. 🧪 🖇 To read the full #report: https://lnkd.in/dYKkVkqs #adultvaccination #publichealth #healthbenefits #diseaseprevention #vaccinate #prevention #globalhealth #AIB #adultimmunizationboard #adultimmunization
