Career Opportunity at the University of Hawai'i! The Dean’s Office seeks applicants for a non-tenure track Researcher to contribute to the understanding of fundamental processes occurring in the so-called Low Wind Effect (LWE) phenomenon that can be relevant to ground-based observatories and in particular direct observation of exoplanets. While the project is largely computational/modeling in nature, we anticipate the opportunity to directly test preliminary results within an observatory setting, and to participate in an international collaboration with researchers at the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Belgium. The position is physically based in Hilo, Hawaii. Apply now to be part of this exciting opportunity: https://lnkd.in/eRQaDkXc #Researcher #UniversityofHawaii #CareerOpportunity #LWEEffect #Observatories #Exoplanets #ComputationalWork #InternationalCollaboration #wind #groundobservatory

Training in research through research
About us
The von Karman Institute is a non-profit international educational and scientific organisation, hosting three departments (aeronautics and aerospace, environmental and applied fluid dynamics, and turbomachinery & propulsion). The concept of "advanced training in research through research" is the leading pedagogic motive. It provides post-graduate education in fluid dynamics (research master in fluid dynamics, doctoral program, stagiaire program and lecture series) and encourages "training in research through research". The von Karman Institute undertakes and promotes research in the field of fluid dynamics. It possesses about fifty different wind tunnels, turbomachinery and other specialized test facilities, some of which are unique or the largest in the world. Extensive research on experimental, computational and theoretical aspects of gas and liquid flows is carried out at the VKI under the direction of the faculty and research engineers, sponsored mainly by governmental and international agencies as well as industries. Each year, the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics organizes more or less 10 conferences called lecture series on various fields: industrial applications, turbomachinery, aerospace, aerodynamics, propulsion, aero engine, aeroacoustics, biological flows, large eddy simulation.

🚀 Introducing Our New Guidelines for Integrated Propulsion Design! 🚀 We are thrilled to announce the publication of a set of Guidelines for Best Design Practices in Integrated Propulsion Systems! These guidelines, developed by the Consortium of the EU-funded project ENODISE, aim to reduce the acoustic impact of integrating propulsion systems with aircraft designs. By prioritizing multidisciplinary design strategies and considering acoustic effects early in the design process, we can pave the way for quieter, more efficient aircraft. 💡 Join us in advancing aviation technology! Check out the full guidelines ENODISE_D8_4.pdf (https://lnkd.in/eZ2uHAjW) and share your thoughts during the Public Workshop: Can novel aircraft concepts be disruptive and sustainable? https://lnkd.in/efEAPTJn #Aviation #Propulsion #AcousticImpact #DesignGuidelines #H2020 #ENODISE #Innovation #SustainableAviation
