🔔Call to support the recognition of the MEP Water Group as an Intergroup🔔 Water Europe joined a large group of international, European and regional stakeholders contributing to water and sanitation services for our society, economy and environment, on a joint letter calling on the European Parliament to support the recognition of the existing MEP Water Group as an official Intergroup. This joint letter appeal on the European Parliament to confirm its leadership by institutionalising the MEP Water group as the intergroup on Water, thus recognising water in its own right and water’s transversal societal and economic nature. The #political momentum in the EU opens up a clear window of opportunity to rethink our model of social and economic development, our prosperity. 📄The Letta Report (April 2024) on the Single Market and the Draghi Report on EU #competitiveness and #reindustrialization are critical milestones in this process. Whereas the former acknowledges the relevance of water for the EU’s economy and society, the latter does not. 🔍This socio-economic study, produced with WSP, is thus a great complement to the Draghi Report in gathering critical evidence on the #role of #water in essential economic activities in contemporary Europe. The economy is embedded in, and dependent on, nature.
