⛰️ Close to the Austrian Alps, a handful of cities are teaming up to build a shared, efficient #districtheating.     #ENABLEDHC 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 - 𝗘𝗽. 𝟔: 𝐖𝐞𝐢𝐳-𝐆𝐥𝐞𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐨𝐫𝐟    In the Weiz-Gleisdorf area, 5 towns - Weiz, St. Ruprecht an der Raab, Wollsdorf, Unterfladnitz, and Gleisdorf - are combining strengths to build joint #efficient district heating systems. The cities are already connected by a network of more than 70km but that relies mainly on #biomass for its heat generation.     🏗️ The Weiz-Gleisdorf area plans to expand the grid to more than 120km of pipes and transition to a system fully reliant on #renewables. Many sources are being investigated such as #wasteheat and #geothermal, and the use of large #heatpumps, #solarthermal, and other generation plants.    👷♀️ AEE INTEC, an ENABLEDHC partner, is leading the research to help Weiz-Gleisdorf build an efficient, decarbonised DH system for the future!
