Slovakia’s Upper Nitra region is going through a major transformation as lignite mining phase out by the end of 2023, leaving many workers facing an uncertain future. Thanks to the Just Transition Fund, a new initiative is helping these workers adapt to a rapidly changing labour market by equipping them with new skills and opportunities. The programme, "Preparing the workforce for new applications in the labor market," offers personalised support, from CV writing to career counseling, enabling workers to explore new professions like electricians and solar panel installers.
