AXA has today launched its 11th Future Risks Report. The study, which provides a global overview of future risks by surveying both the general public and industry experts, includes responses of over 23,000 respondents in four regions of the world: Europe, America, Africa and Asia-Pacific & Middle East. Unsurprisingly, climate change, geopolitical instability and cybersecurity continue to retain a position in the top three risks according to experts, with risks posed by artificial intelligence in fourth position. The report also reflects a continued recognition of the role of insurance in helping businesses and societies to address evolving risks with 91% of experts and 72% of the general public agreeing that insurers’ role in safeguarding against emerging risks will be crucial in future. Unprecedented flooding in Dubai in April highlighted the potential severity of this risk in an area where, historically, rainfall has been scarce.
