A big well done to our team in the Isle of Man for their tremendous work on the first Monument Make a Difference Day!
Yesterday the Isle of Man office of Monument took part in the first Monument Make a Difference Day, an initiative created to maintain, protect, and enhance an area of woodland at the Conrhenny Plantation. Previously, this site had been planted by the children of all the primary schools across the island, but without paths or a place to stop and rest, it was mostly inaccessible. The team who volunteered contributed a combined total of 210 man-hours. We created five accessible paths, laid eight tonnes of mulch, created a picnic area, built an accessibility ramp, and cleared over 150 self-seeded conifer saplings to give room for native species to flourish. We also created added signage for the native species of trees to increase visitors’ knowledge of the environment around them. We are proud to have worked in conjunction with the Department of Environment, Forestry and Agriculture to make the area a destination within the plantation, and to give a little back to the island we all love so much. We hope this is the beginning of a long relationship between Monument International and the Conrhenny Plantation. 🌲 🍁 🦔 🌱 Monument Re Group
