The first half of the year flew by, and I wanted to share a quick overview of the startup investment landscape in #LATAM.
According to several reports, VC investment levels in LATAM are picking up, better than those of 1H2023 and #growing steadily. The report from Sling Hub indicates an increase in total investment of 66% from Q1 to Q2 of 2024 and an increase of 52% from 1H2023 vs 1H2024. 🎉
#Fintech remains the standout sector, especially in Q1 2024, where all major deals were fintech-related. This sector continues to attract the most investment in LATAM, with around 58% of VC investments going into fintech in 1H2024, according to Sling Hub.
🚀 Out of the 10 largest rounds on 1H2024, 7 were fintech-related, mainly with B2B models and concentrated in Colombia, Mexico, and Brazil.
- Simetrik and Bold from Colombia secured $55M and $50M, respectively.
- Special mention to Conta Simples, part of our portfolio 😁 , which raised $41M.
- The largest rounds went to Celcoin from Brazil with $125M and Clip from Mexico with $100M.
#LATAM continues to attract international investors, who see significant opportunities in the region, as most of the major deals involved investors from the US, some #PrivateEquity firms like Goldman Sachs and General Atlantic, and VCs like Andreessen Horowitz, Union Square Ventures, and Base10 Partners, among others.
