Roads and highways We all know them and we use them almost every day. Connecting towns, cities and cultures, they have become essential for our modern lifestyle. Do you know up to how much lime is used for the construction of 1 km of motorway? 🛣️ Up to 3,100 t/km of lime is needed to construct 1 km of motorway. Lime is used in several steps of the construction: embankment, capping layer, pavement and surface layer. Lime helps to build reliable and long-lasting roads, walkways and motorways. #LimeInYourDailyLife #Motorways

The dual use of lime, one step closer to a circular economy ♻️ As a byproduct of steel production, converter lime finds application in agriculture as it contains all the nutrients and substances needed in farming, especially for the fertilization of plants and soils. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐞? Throughout the steel industrial process, lime is used for different purposes. One application is in the purification step. In this step, lime will allow the removal of different components such as phosphorus, manganese, and carbon. Additionally, with the addition of silica in the converter process, converter lime will be generated. The dual use of lime in the steel industry with subsequent use in agriculture has allowed decades of active resource conservation and brings us another step closer to a circular economy. #CircularEconomy #Agriculture
