    The stainless steel industry has been quite dynamic on the development of innovative, disruptive solutions over the past decades. One of the challenges faced by this industry are problems related to the sensitization effect, leading to intergranular corrosion. Outokumpu has just announced the new Therma 4622Nb®️, a high-chromium ferritic stainless steel with smart #Niobium alloying to be used in extreme temperature environments. The effect of Niobium plays a pivotal role in creating a fixing effect and avoiding creep problems, losses in mechanical properties, and other destructive effects on end applications.     The 2024 International Conference on Niobium-Based Batteries – 7th Edition took place on September 25th, bringing together global leaders from the #Niobium battery community to discuss the latest advances in anode and cathode active materials. The conference showcased how Niobium battery technology is driving innovation and shaping the future of sustainable energy solutions. Experts debated the progress in applying Niobium to advanced cathode and anode active materials on the road to commercial adoption, addressing key challenges like higher energy density, lower costs, and longer service life. A special highlight of the event was the Excellent Paper Award, which recognizes groundbreaking research on Niobium-based batteries. The top 3 papers were selected from over 200 outstanding research articles submitted worldwide, emphasizing the continued progress in the field. The award, held annually in China, honors the best papers on the science, production, and application of Niobium in the battery sector. This year’s winning papers covered significant topics, such as Anodes for High-Rate Lithium-Ion Batteries, Fast-Charging, Long-Life, and Low-Temperature-Friendly Lithium-Storage Materials, and an Intercalation Mechanism for Fast-Charging Sodium-Ion Batteries. Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to these enlightening discussions, pushing the boundaries of Niobium battery technology!

    QuesTek Innovations LLC has launched a partnership with CBMM to push the boundaries of materials engineering and open a new frontier of capabilities through the expanded use of #Niobium. Through the partnership, QuesTek will explore material compositions leveraging Niobium to achieve high strength and heat resistance in novel alloys suitable for additive manufacturing.     Urban mobility fully recharged! Over the past decades, #Niobium has been enabling the development of innovative solutions, which, in addition to being cost-effective, promote extra safety, high performance and environmentally friendlier results. CBMM and Toshiba joined forces to develop the first commercial battery using Niobium based anode active materials to provide improved performance, enhanced safety, longer life for lithium-ion batteries and ultra-fast charging capabilities. Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus joined this partnership to integrate the SCiB™Nb batteries in a prototype electric bus. Charging 0-80% in under 10 minutes and with a potential reduction of the battery size of up to 3 times, this new Niobium-based battery technology in electric buses can offer a compelling alternative for public transportation and contribute to the development of a more sustainable urban mobility.
