Join ABLE2 and Ottawa Community Foundation for another GROW Education Session on "Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities: Perspectives from the Bench and Adjudicators" Persons with disabilities face unique challenges navigating the justice system. These challenges can pose difficulties for legal representatives advocating on behalf of persons with disabilities and are especially difficult for persons with disabilities who are self-represented. Whether you are representing a person with a disability, or you are a self-presented person with a disability, Reach Legal Services invites you to join us for a virtual panel discussion featuring judges and adjudicators who regularly decide cases in the courts and tribunals. This free seminar is accredited by the Law Society of Ontario for 1.0 hour of professional content. This seminar is made possible with the generous support of the Ottawa Community Foundation. Speakers: 🗣️ Jennifer Khurana (Chairperson, Canadian Human Rights Tribunal) 🗣️ Margo den Haan (Landlord Tenant Board / Ontario Review Board Member), and 🗣️ The Honourable Justice David Berg (Ontario Court of Justice) Date/Time: Wednesday, November 27, 2024, 6:00 to 7:30 PM EST Via Zoom 🗓️🕕 Don't miss out -- Register now: https://lnkd.in/gjEqyQ2t #ABLE2 #ABLE2GrowSeries #LegalAid #DisabilityRights #PersonsWithDisabilities #DisabilitySupport

"In Canada, approximately eight million individuals aged 15 and over live with one or more disabilities that limit their daily activities. Of this population, 41% can work if they have access to a fully inclusive labour market. (2017 Canadian Survey on Disability) Despite progress, this disparity reveals that there are still significant barriers." ABLE2 Executive Director Heather Lacey shares her insights on Disability Employment Awareness Month in her recent LinkedIn article below. #InclusiveWorkplaces #DisabilityEmployment #PeopleWithDisabilities #InclusivityMatters #ABLE2
