It is still National Disability Employment Awareness Month, and there are some things you should know to move forward for year allyship to Disabled Workers. The theme this year is "Access to Good Jobs for All". This year means that year-round people with disabilities deserve a good job. So what does this mean? 1) "Disabled People deserve to do the jobs they want to do. Not what jobs people assume they can do" Whether that be self-employment, entry-level positions, management positions, etc. 2) "Accommodations help provide good jobs for all". Accommodations are there to help support people in their jobs and help them be able to do their job to the best of their ability. 3) "Equal pay for equal work also applies to people with disabilities". People with disabilities are paid lower wages, this needs to stop. 4) "On-the-job coaching helps support good jobs for all". Having on-the-job coaching allows employees who are Disabled or Neurodivergent to know how to advocate for their needs and come up with a plan for better support or accommodation.
