We’re excited to share that the McDonald Residence in Comox, BC, has won the ICF Builder Award Specialty Application! 🏆 This project, led by Ken and Norine McDonald, a 970 sq. ft. addition, built with Quad-Lock Building Systems and Quad Deck systems, was designed with accessibility in mind—featuring wheelchair access, an elevator, and custom suites for both the caregiver and family. A highlight of the project is the stunning 1400 sq. ft. rooftop deck, offering 180° views of the Beaufort Mountains, Comox Glacier, and Comox Harbour, while doubling the outdoor space. Incredible work by Caribbean ICF Solutions, LLC on this massive 14,000+ sq. ft. mansion in Dorado, Puerto Rico!
This is another successful project supported by Caribbean ICF Solutions during 2021 in Dorado, Puerto Rico. This mansion has more than 14,000 square feet of construction, distributed over two levels and an ICF roof terrace. It includes six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and four half bathrooms, standing out as one of the most impressive properties in the Island. The two-story villa at Ritz-Carlton Reserve's Dorado Beach Estates in Puerto Rico was recently sold for $20 million, becoming the island's highest sale during 2024. This project has the third level terrace roof built with the Quad-Deck ICF Roof system, the Helix Micro-rebar solution and the Sider-Crete ICF finishing base-coat solution with the FastTrack ICF Bonding agent on the ICF ceiling. The property owner, who was building this mansion at that time, wanted to try the Quad-Deck ICF roof system during the final construction phase of this impressive mansion and immediately felt in love with the Quad-Lock ICF Roof system results and performance after using it in this house project. The state-of-the-art ICF roof design has a total length of 43 feet with a cantilever slab of about 17 feet long which used 50% less concrete with 50% less weight and 33% less rebar than the traditional concrete roof slab. The Helix micro-rebar solution also provided an additional reduction of over 40% on the top steel reinforcement while increasing the concrete shear strength by 377% and the concrete durability & strength by 40% of the ICF roof slab in comparison to a traditional concrete roof slab.
