In July, Albertans were collectively heartbroken to learn of the destruction left by a wildfire that destroyed much of Jasper National Park including a substantial part of the Jasper townsite, and also resulted in the tragic death of a firefighter. As an organization with deep ties to the communities we serve, we have always stepped up to support our communities in times of need. So when we were approached to participate in a special fundraising campaign and benefit concert to support Jasper, we were quick to say yes. Together with other leading local organizations, including ATB Financial, Edmonton International Airport and PCL, we will be contributing $50,000 toward this campaign from our community foundation. This is in addition to our contribution to the Red Cross Alberta Wildfire relief fund donated from our caring employees, which was matched from our community foundation. Please join us this Saturday, September 7 for an unforgettable night of music featuring 3 of Alberta’s greatest acts: The Prairie States, Nice Horse and Kyle Mckearney. They’ll be joined by DJ Johnny Infamous and MC, Ryan Jespersen. The concert will be held at ATB Plaza in downtown Edmonton. Tickets are just $20 each and all donations and concert proceeds will go to the Jasper Community Society’s Jasper Fire Caring Community Fund, a local Jasper charity. We're proud to be founding partners of the Change Health Program with the University of Alberta. Watch the full story here: https://lnkd.in/gWG6AEGc

Youth and Elders from our Alexis Nakota Sioux Nation 'Healthy, Fit and Strong' program are at a land-based learning camp this week in Whitecourt. CBC Edmonton came with us to visit the camp and capture how this program empowers Alexis youth to connect to traditional ways of staying healthy and active! Thank you to Elders Daphne & Arnold Alexis and Chief Tony Alexis for all your support of this CHCP program. We'll be sure to share the story when it comes out!

Our 2024 Faces of Wellness program is now open for applications. You could be the grand prize recipient or a finalist like Enessa Habib. “The journey has been healing for me and others as we care for and tend to the bees in a gentle way. This creature is more vulnerable and fragile than us. It allows us to reflect inward and look at what we need to do to take care of ourselves and where we fit within nature,” -Enessa. In 2021, Enessa started YEG Honeycomb, a project that brings bees to historic areas in Edmonton. YEG Honeycomb works with residents at Alberta Hospital Edmonton’s Facility for Mental Health and Addiction and the Grierson Centre to help patients successfully transition out of the facilities and into the community. Learn more about Enessa’s story or apply to the 2024 Faces of Wellness program: https://lnkd.in/eD8tt-zT
