  • It’s that time of year again! We are so excited to announce that we are now accepting nominations for the 2025 cohort of the ACGC Top 30 Under 30 Award. The 2025 cohort will mark the 14th year that the Top 30 award has recognized 30 outstanding young leaders that are working to make the world more just, fair, and sustainable for all. Nominated by members of their community and selected by a committee of peers, these youth are amplified throughout the annual campaign for their passion and care. We will also honour their achievements at our Top 30 Under 30 Celebration Event during #IDW2025 Do you know an inspiring young person between 10-30 years of age? We would love to hear from you! Nominees must either reside or study in Alberta, be affiliated with an ACGC member abroad, or be studying or working outside of Alberta but call Alberta home. • The ACGC 2024 Annual Conference, “Inspiring Action, Inspiring Hope: International Cooperation in a World of Uncertainty,” was held this past September, at which we posed the question: "What can Alberta and Canada do to help shape a brighter, more prosperous, and peaceful world?" This question influenced many of our activities over the two-day annual conference. Check out this highlight reel for a glance at all the activities we shared in together on Day 2! Thank you to everyone who joined us in Edmonton for the two days of connection, capacity building, and celebration! #ACGC50 #Conference #ACGC2024

  • Following a wonderful evening of celebrating our 50th Anniversary Year, we gathered again for a day of capacity building and connections for our 2024 Annual Conference. To kick off the day, we viewed a virtual address from Ambassador Leslie E. Norton. We heard from a panel of members and community partners, including Christina Caouette (Young Diplomats of Canada), Nabeel Hameed (Islamic Relief Canada), Delmy Garcia Hoyt (Sombrilla International), and Jack Underschultz (Nafasi Opportunity Society), and moderated by Lindsey Machone-Maenzanise (Expand Hope). We had the opportunity to chat with Brandon A. Lee, Director General with the Grants and Contributions Transformation Bureau at Global Affairs Canada, about GAC structure and Canada's priorities for international development in 2024 and beyond, facilitated by board member Greg Sowak. In the afternoon, Karen Craggs-Milne, talented Gender Equality Changemaker, walked us through an easy-to-use framework for integrating gender equality considerations into programming. To close off our day, Andy Ouedraogo led us through her research at Cooperation Canada on Assumption Mapping, strategic foresight tool designed to help international cooperation actors identify and challenge the assumptions that shape their work. You can read more about the events of the 2-day conference in the full recap on our website at acgc.ca/conference Thank you to all who came out to share in celebration, learning, and connection with us over these two days! #ACGC50 #Conference #ACGC2024

  • This past September, our 2024 Annual Conference included a unique evening event in celebration of ACGC's 50th Anniversary Year, at which we celebrated and honored the wonderful community of Albertans, both past and present, working to help shape a brighter, more prosperous, and peaceful world! The event included a virtual message by Canada's Ambassador for Women, Peace, and Security, Jacqueline O'Neill, as well as in-person addresses by MP Heather McPherson, MLA Sharif Haji, City Councillor Michael Janz, former ACGC Executive Directors Cherie Langlois-Klassen and Leah Ettarh, and current Executive Director Sandra Muchekeza,. We also had the opportunity to recognize two organizations that have been longstanding members of ACGC since its inception, Operation Eyesight Universal and Mennonite Central Committee, as well as the 45 additional organizations that have been members for 10 or more years. Throughout the evening, we enjoyed an inspiring Keynote Speech by Erum Shazia Hasan, live music by the Mbira Renaissance Band, performances by the Inyambo Dance Group, and much more! We were honored to spend an evening surrounded by the leaders, members, organizations, and larger community that make up so much of ACGC's and Alberta's legacy in International Cooperation. Thank you to all who attended and made it a wonderful evening of celebration!
